Note: eSIM availability may vary depending on local carrier compatibility.
As you can see, older OnePlus models, such as the 6 Pro, 6T, 7 Pro, 7T, 8 Pro, 8T, 9 and 9 Pro are not compatible with eSIM. The same thing goes for the OnePlus Nord-series.

How to add an eSIM to a OnePlus phone
Setting up an eSIM on a OnePlus phone only takes a few minutes. Keep in mind, though, that support depends on your device, country or region, and carrier. Some providers like T-Mobile and Vodafone already offer eSIM, but not all do.
If you don’t see the Manage eSIM Card option in your settings, your device–carrier combination may not support eSIM yet.
Before you start, make sure to:
- Check that your OnePlus model supports eSIM and isn’t SIM-locked.
- Connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network for a smooth installation.
- Have your activation code or QR code from your provider ready.
You can add an eSIM in two ways: by scanning a QR code or by entering the details manually. If one method doesn’t work, try the other—so even if scanning fails, you can still set up your eSIM by entering the code.
1. Scanning a QR Code
The easiest way to install an eSIM on your OnePlus is by scanning a QR code. Here’s how:
- Go to Settings → Mobile Network → tap eSIM → toggle the eSIM switch on.
- Select Add eSIM → tap Next → scan the QR code.
- Tap Download to start the installation (don’t close this window, or the process might fail).
- Confirm with Continue / Add and wait for the profile to install.
- (Optional) Turn off Automatically enable eSIM if you want to activate it later (e.g., when you arrive at your destination).
- Tap Add and activate the eSIM only when you’re ready to use it.
Can’t scan the QR code directly? Save it as a photo, go to Choose from Gallery, and select the image of the code.
2. Manually installing your eSIM
Don’t feel like scanning a QR code? You can set up your eSIM manually instead using an activation code. Here’s what to do:
- Tap Enter Activation Code Manually.
- Find the code you received via email and enter the string of characters, making sure to include the “LPA:” prefix in the correct field.
- Select Add and turn off the Automatically enable eSIM option (optional), if you want to activate it later (e.g., when you arrive at your destination).
- Tap Add again and activate the eSIM only when you’re ready to use it.

How to activate eSIM on a OnePlus phone
Once you’ve added the eSIM to your OnePlus, you’ll need to activate it before you can use data, calls, and texts. To do this:
- Open Settings > Wi-Fi & Network > SIM & Network.
- Select your eSIM from the list of SIMs.
- Toggle the switch to turn it on.
- Choose whether you want to use the eSIM for mobile data, calls, and/or SMS.
Tip: If you’re using more than one SIM (eSIM + physical SIM), make sure to set your preferred line for data, calls, and texts in SIM Settings.
How to deactivate an eSIM on OnePlus
- Go to Settings → SIM Card & Mobile Data → Manage eSIM Card.
- Select the eSIM you want to disable.
- Toggle Enable/Disable to deactivate it temporarily.
- Want to remove the eSIM completely? Select Delete to remove the profile from your device (you can reinstall it later using the original QR code or activation code).
