Global YO eSIM plans and pricing
Before choosing the right eSIM for you, make sure your phone is eSIM compatible. Our guide to set up your eSIM can help. Then, it’s time to pick the right plan to cover your trip.
Global YO single country plans

Global YO eSIMs can be broken down into three main plan types. The single country plans give data for a fixed period in an individual country, with over 200 destinations covered in total. Whilst prices vary by package, data plans start at $0.59 USD.
Global YO has a variety of eSIM options, from 500 MB to 100 GB, so you’ll likely find an amount which works for you, with packages which run from 1 to 30 days.
Here are some examples to give you a feel for the price range:
Country | 1 GB for 7 days | 3 GB for 15 days | 10 GB for 30 days |
---|---|---|---|
USA | $1.79 | $4.19 | $8.99 |
UK | $0.99 | $2.89 | $9.49 |
Indonesia | $1.59 | $3.99 | $8.79 |

Global YO regional plans

Global YO also offers a range of regional plans, which each cover between 2 and 39 countries. Whilst they offer regions grouped geographically, such as The America’s Explorer, which covers 21 countries, they also offer non-geographic regional plans. For example, their Surfer Explorer pack covers 18 countries from Indonesia to Ireland.
It’s worth noting that the amount of data available for different regional plans varies a lot. For example, the Surfer Explorer plan offers only up to 3 GB, compared to 100GB for the Europe Explorer. The prices also vary, such as $28.79 USD for 3 GB for the Surfer Explorer, compared to $2.79 USD for the same amount of data in the Europe Explorer.
Global YO global plans

The third category of eSIMs offered by Global YO are global plans. Global YO has three, which cover 52, 99 and 112 countries respectively. Again, it’s worth checking the countries you are going to are covered. This is easily found on their website, and can guide you on which plan to choose.
Depending on your choice of global plan, the prices and data availability varies. For their World Explorer Light plan, Global YO offers up to 50GB of data, which costs $39.19 USD . For the same amount of data on the World Explorer 101 plan, this costs $79.99 USD. If you want data across all 112 countries, using the World Explorer + plan, you can only buy up to 10GB, meaning you may need to buy top-ups for a longer trip. Here’s a summary of the different plans:
Data package | Countries covered | Data availability | Price range | Duration |
---|---|---|---|---|
World Explorer Light | 52 | 200 MB – 50 GB | $0.59 – $39.19 | 1-30 days |
World Explorer 101 | 99 | 200 MB – 50 GB | $0.59 – $79.99 | 1-360 days |
World Explorer + | 112 | 1 GB – 10 GB | $7.19 – $51.19 | 7-30 days |
You can also use YOYO$ for discounts on data packages, with the maximum available discount varying depending on the package you choose. These discounts may change which packages suit you best, so consider how you want to spend your YOYO$ to maximise their value.
Finding the correct Global YO plan may seem a daunting choice. However, their chatbot, Yolanda, can help you find the one which best meets your needs. You’ll need to give her information about which countries you are visiting, for how long and how much data you expect to use. Whilst this may feel repetitive, it allows you to quickly find the right eSIM plan for you.
Global YO eSIM features
In addition to data, Global YO also offers other features covering talk time, lifestyle perks and discounts.
YOYO$
YOYO$ are the in-app currency offered by Global YO, which can be redeemed for various rewards such as discounts and entertainment options. In the future, you’ll also be able to redeem physical goods using YOYO$. These can be earned by spending time on their app, as well as through a sign-up bonus, and referral bonuses.
Global YO app
The Global YO app makes topping up eSIMs or buying new ones on the go easier. The app also gives access to the YO map, which you can use for travel recommendations wherever you have bought your eSIM for.
YO SHOUT
YO SHOUT allows you to make international calls using your Global YO eSIM. When you buy your eSIM, you’ll be able to buy YO SHOUT credits, which can be used to make calls. If you’re not sure whether you’ll need to make any calls, you can also buy them later, through the app, so you don’t need to make any commitments straight away. You can also top up your call time credits through the app, giving you flexibility throughout your trip.
Global YO advertises their international calls as ‘ultra-low bandwidth’, so your calls won’t drain your data.
Bonus entertainment
Global YO also has a range of entertainment options, such as DJ sets and movies, which are a nice perk to using the eSIM. Engaging with these also gives you an opportunity to earn YOYO$, meaning they may also make your next eSIM purchase cheaper.
Drawbacks of Global YO eSIM
Global YO also has some drawbacks, which are worth considering if you’re thinking about buying an eSIM from them.
Limited flexibility for different timeframes
Whilst Global YO offers different plans, they have limited flexibility for timeframes and the amount of data you buy. For example, some plans, such as the Europe Explorer, offer a 5GB plan for only 15 days.
This means that if you need your data for longer, you’ll need to buy a minimum of 10GB – and pay for the extra data you may not need. Conversely, if you’re there for a short amount of time, but need more data, you may find yourself needing to buy a package for a longer time period.
SMS not supported
Global YO does not offer SMS. Travelers should prepare alternative messaging apps and confirm that accommodations or tour providers can communicate through other channels.
Variable discounts with YOYO$
Whilst YOYO$ can be used for rewards such as discounts, typically ranging from 5% to 20%. However, the rewards are limited and won’t cover the full cost of a plan.
Global YO eSIM website and app overview
The Global YO eSIM website is reasonably well laid out, making buying and eSIM a straightforward process. The website also has a dedicated FAQ section, to answer many common questions you may have. Each eSIM package has a clear and detailed overview of what is offered, such as data, timeframe, and compatibility.
The regional and global plans also have a list of all the countries that are covered, though as they do not appear to be listed in a clear order (and are not shown on a map), you may need to CTRL F to ensure all the countries you need are covered. The website’s chatbot, Yolanda, can also answer any questions you may have, and help guide you to the eSIM plan which best suits your needs.
The Global YO app allows you to buy a new eSIM and YO SHOUT credits on your phone. It also offers features such as entertainment, and the opportunity to earn YOYO$.
Global YO eSIM user experience
Global YO has a well developed FAQ page and a chatbot(Yolanda) to assist with eSIM setup and troubleshooting.
If you are still having problems, you can email customer support through their ‘contact us’ page. There is no live support. This may be problematic if you run into any issues when you arrive at your destination.
Global YO eSIM overview

Global YO markets its eSIMs alongside lots of travel and lifestyle perks like live shows, destination maps showing hot locations wherever you’re heading, and rewards you can trade in for discounts and in app purchases.
A key drawback of the Global YO eSIM offering is the limited number of plans, which may mean that you are unable to find one which fits your exact needs. If you need to compromise on the amount of data you get, or the duration of your plan, the extra perks may not be worthwhile. However, if you can find a Global YO plan which does suit the specific trip you’re taking, these lifestyle extras might make it worth considering.
