Saily eSIM review: Is it worth using for traveling?
Saily offers affordable, easy-to-use eSIMs. However, it lacks unlimited plans for certain destinations and quick access to live chat support. Read our Saily eSIM review in full.
Having launched in 2024, Saily is one of the latest additions to the eSIM market. While growing in popularity, Saily is still a new provider with little time under its belt.
Our comprehensive Saily eSIM review covers everything you need to know about the company, its features, and whether you should consider getting an eSIM from them. And if you’re looking for an alternative to Saily, consider Holafly, a travel eSIM with years of experience that offers unlimited data in 200+ destinations worldwide.
What is Saily?
Saily is a virtual SIM service created by NordSecurity, the cybersecurity company behind NordVPN and NordPass.
Currently, Saily offers plans in 200 destinations worldwide. You can get one either through the Saily app or through their website. The company offers both limited and unlimited data packages; all plans are data-only, which means that you don’t get a phone number for calls or SMS messages
Let’s take a look at some of the main pros and cons of the service.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Affordable eSIM plans | No live chat is available on the website |
| Dedicated apps for iOS and Android | Limited payment methods |
| Works on most eSIM-compatible phones | Data-only, no voice calls or SMS available |

Data plans and pricing
Saily offers data plans ranging from 1 GB to unlimited GB. Limited data plans last for either 7 or 30 days. Unlimited data packages last up to 30 days.
You’ll also find regional and global eSIM plans. They’re more expensive than local plans but include multiple destinations on a single eSIM, with some plans (the global eSIM plan) lasting up to 365 days. Data allowances vary by plan. Certain regional plans, like the eSIM for North America or Europe, offer up to unlimited GB. Others only offer up to 10 or 20 GB of data.
Needless to say, 20 GB won’t last you a year of constant travel; you’ll have to keep topping it up to stay connected.
Single-destination plans range from $3.99 USD to $48.99, with regional plans priced up to $95.99. To avoid going through each of Saily’s nearly 200 plans, let’s take a look at some of the most popular options:
| USA | Europe | Global | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 GB for 7 days | $3.99 | $4.99 | $8.99 |
| 2 GB for 15 days | – | – | $16.49 |
| 3 GB for 30 days | $8.99 | $12.49 | – |
| 5 GB for 30 days | $13.99 | $19.49 | $33.99 (60 days) |
| 10 GB for 30 days | $22.99 | $35.99 | $56.99 (180 days) |
| 20 GB for 30 days | $36.99 | – | $66.99 (365 days) |
| 50 GB for 90 days | – | $95.99 | $129.99 (365 days) |
| Unlimited GB for 15 days | $48.99 | $49.99 | – |
You’ll want to keep an eye on your usage to avoid running out of data on fixed-data plans. If you see you’re approaching your data limit, consider topping up your Saily eSIM to stay connected.
As it stands, data for top-ups costs the same as data for a new plan.
Payment methods
You can buy a Saily eSIM using the most popular payment methods, including credit card, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal.
Subscriptions
Monthly subscription eSIM plans are the perfect choice for frequent or long-term travelers. Saily has recently launched Saily Ultra, its subscription service offering coverage in 121+ destinations, unlimited 1 Mbps data, 30 GB of high-speed data, and various online privacy features for $59.99/month with the Premium plan. Saily Ultra Standard includes 5 GB of data, and Saily Ultra Plus offers 10 GB.
If you want to explore other subscription options, you can use Holafly Plans, a great alternative, offering three plans (unlimited data, 25 GB) with coverage in 170+ destinations. The following are the plans available:
- Unlimited data with unlimited hotspot at $64.90/month.
- 25 GB with 25 GB of hotspot for $49.90/month.

Business plans
Saily for Business is a B2B eSIM management platform that enables companies to assign and monitor mobile data for traveling employees across 200+ destinations. They offer country-specific, regional, and global plans. For a more in-depth review, check out our dedicated guide on Saily for Business.
Holafly also offers a similar counterpart: Holafly for Business. This business eSIM provider offers companies and teams unlimited mobile data plans in 160+ destinations. The plans come in four tiers: Always On, On Demand, Unlimited, and Enterprise. Check out our Holafly for Business guide to learn more about perks, features, and pricing.
Coverage
Saily currently offers coverage in 200+ destinations, along with regional and global plans. Keep in mind that regional plans may not cover every country in the area, and the global plan won’t cover every country in the world. So if you’re going for a regional plan, make sure it covers every destination you plan to visit.
Regarding connection speeds, you can expect 5G coverage wherever available, with 4G and 3G speeds where it isn’t. Keep in mind that 5G is typically only available in densely populated areas around cities. So don’t expect lightning-fast speeds if you’re out exploring in the wilderness.
Just like most eSIMs, Saily will connect you to local providers wherever you go, so the coverage will also inevitably depend on the provider they’re using in your destination country.

Customer support
Having a long list of destinations and solid coverage is all well and good until your Saily eSIM stops working or you have urgent questions about the service. That’s when you need a solid customer support team to help you.
Saily has a vast knowledge base on its Help Center page, but users might have difficulty reaching a real customer support agent. First of all, live chat isn’t available on the website. The best you can do is tap the “Submit a request” button on the top right corner of the Help Center page, fill out a form, and wait for someone to respond via email.
The only way to get to the live chat is through the app. You’ll need to open the app, navigate to the Help section, select one of the three options, tap Contact support, fill out the form, and then be directed to the live chat.
| Customer support option | |
|---|---|
| 24/7 live chat | ✅(App only) |
| ✅ | |
| Help center | ✅ |
| FAQ | ✅ |
| Phone line | ❌ |
Unfortunately, there’s no easier way to get fast help from an agent. It’s a stark contrast when you compare Saily to Holafly, where you’re never more than one or two buttons away from talking to a real support agent on the website or the app.
Refund policy
Saily’s refund policy is fairly flexible. They offer partial/full refunds for unused plans and plans where less than 1% of the data was used. You can still request a refund if you encounter issues after using more than 1% of your data limit, with such requests evaluated on a case-by-case basis. All refund requests must be filed within 30 days of purchase.
Security features
With Saily part of the cybersecurity giant NordSecurity, you’d expect to see some extra security features implemented in the service. And you’d be right.
Saily allows you to change your virtual location by routing your internet traffic through a server in a different country. It also includes an ad blocker and a web protection feature that reduces trackers and filters out potentially malicious websites. These have no direct impact on the quality of the eSIM service itself, but are a nice bonus to have available.
Saily app
You can use Saily’s eSIMs without the app, but the dedicated iOS and Android apps make it easier and quicker to buy and activate your eSIM and track mobile data usage.
All in all, it’s a fairly simple yet intuitive app. The eSIM shop, Help Center, Credits, and profile information are a click away from the home screen. It’s also easier to activate your eSIM in the app than to do it manually. The only main drawback is the difficulty getting through to a live support agent.
- Pros:
- Information about the installation is available on the app.
- It’s easy to browse through the different destinations available.
- You can check destinations without creating an account on the Saily app.
- Shows information about data usage, how long your plan lasts, and if it’s active.
- Cons:
- Harder to contact customer support through the mobile app.

Is the Saily eSIM worth it?
Saily is a reliable choice for travellers looking for affordable data-only coverage across 200+ destinations. The dedicated app makes buying and managing plans straightforward, and the added security features from NordSecurity give it a unique edge for privacy-focused users. That said, live chat support is only accessible through the app, and unlimited plans aren’t available for every destination.
