Rokas Aniulis Writer Profile

Updated: April 2, 2026

Holafly and Airalo are two of the most widely used travel eSIM providers, both offering coverage across 200+ destinations worldwide.

The main difference is in data: Holafly includes unlimited data with every plan, while Airalo offers a mix of fixed-data and unlimited options at varying price points. Which one suits you depends largely on how much data you need and how flexible you want your plan duration to be.

The Holafly vs. Airalo comparison below covers pricing, coverage, speed, customer support, refund policy, and key features for both providers.

Pricing and data allowance

Airalo and Holafly have two very different pricing strategies. Airalo focuses mostly on affordable but low-data plans, while Holafly offers unlimited data plans for all eSIMs

While Airalo does offer unlimited data packages, they’re only available for certain destinations and don’t offer the same plan duration flexibility as Holafly’s unlimited data plans.

Holafly also offers Holafly Plans, a pay-monthly subscription plan for long-term coverage that covers 170+ destinations worldwide. It’s a perfect mobile data option for digital nomads or longer multi-country trips.

On the other hand, Airalo offers call minutes and text messages for some destinations, while Holafly only offers mobile data with its eSIMs.

Holafly pricing

Holafly includes unlimited data usage with every eSIM, so all you need to do is choose the duration of your plan. Plan durations are completely flexible, allowing you to choose any number of days in the range from 1 to 90. The longer the duration, the cheaper the plan.

USA eSIMBrazil eSIMEurope eSIM
3 dayUS$11.70$12.90$11.70
7 days$27.30$29.90$27.30
10 days$36.90$36.90$36.90
15 days$50.90$50.90$50.90
30 days$74.90$93.90$74.90
90 days$139.90$288.90$139.90

Keep in mind that Holafly allows you to choose any number of days from 1 to 90 for your plan, so the prices above are just an example, and not a complete representation of the options available.

Airalo pricing

Airalo offers fixed-data, unlimited data, and Data/Calls/Texts plans. That said, unlimited plans, as well as plans that include calls and texts, may not be available for certain destinations. Let’s take a look at Airalo’s pricing for the USA, but keep in mind that prices may differ depending on the destination and how much data you need.

Fixed dataUnlimited dataData/Calls/Texts
3 days$4-$8.50$11.50$6-$11
7 days$9-$22$27$12-$28
15 days$13.50-$36$49$18-$45
30 days$14-$42$69$19-$59

The price for fixed data and Data/Calls/Texts plans varies depending on how much data you choose to include in the plan.

Keep in mind that Airalo doesn’t offer flexible plan durations. So, while Airalo’s unlimited data plans are marginally cheaper than Holafly’s for the same number of days, if you need the plan for any other duration that Airalo doesn’t offer, Holafly will be the cheaper option.

Connection speed

When it comes to speed, Holafly and Airalo are similar. Both providers offer 4G/3G and LTE in most countries, as well as 5G where available.

However, keep in mind that your connection speed doesn’t fully depend on your chosen provider. Both Holafly and Airalo eSIMs work with local networks at your destination, often allowing you to choose between multiple local providers.

Your connection speed can depend on the provider you’re connected to, as well as general coverage in your area. You can expect 5G speeds at most major cities, while coverage is typically much worse in remote areas or national parks.

Coverage

Both Airalo and Holafly offer near-global coverage with eSIMs for 200+ destinations through local, regional, and global eSIM plans. This means you can find an eSIM plan for pretty much any destination, no matter where you’re going.

Regional eSIMs are great if you’re visiting multiple countries, since you don’t have to buy a new plan when crossing a border, and your eSIM connects to a network in the new country automatically. However, you should make sure the plan covers every country in your trip, as some destinations within a region may not be included.

User experience

Both Holafly and Airalo have apps for Android and iOS, which make it easy to buy, activate, and manage your eSIMs or contact customer support. The layouts for both apps are intuitive, allowing you to access all key features of the service with a few quick taps on your phone screen.

Both apps are available in multiple languages, so you should find a language that suits you if English isn’t your preferred option.

Customer support

As you’d expect from two of the leading travel eSIM providers in the world, Airalo and Holafly both offer 24/7 customer support through multiple channels. You can get help via live chat, email, and the help center. Holafly also offers customer support via WhatsApp, while Airalo doesn’t offer this option.

Refund policy

If your Holafly or Airalo eSIM is not working, you’ll likely want your money back. However, Holafly’s and Airalo’s refund policies differ, so you should get familiar with the policy before buying an eSIM.

Holafly refund policyAiralo refund policy
Refunds for accidental purchases or if your device is incompatible or carrier-lockedRefunds are only available if Airalo’s service doesn’t work as intended.
Refunds are available if your travel plans change. No refunds for accidental purchases or incompatible devices.
Refunds can be granted up to six months after purchase Refunds available up to 30 days after purchase

If your travel plans aren’t set in stone or if you’re unsure whether your phone is eSIM-compatible, Holafly gives you the option to get your money back no matter what. On the other hand, Airalo only offers refunds if there’s an issue with the service.

Top-up options

If you’re on a fixed-data Airalo plan and run out of data, you can top up your Airalo plan with extra data. That said, top-ups don’t come at a discounted rate, so you’ll pay the same for extra data as you would for a new eSIM.

Holafly’s unlimited plans don’t require top-ups, but if your plan expires before your trip ends, you will need to purchase a new eSIM to continue.

Additional features

Not yet sold on either provider? Maybe the additional value each offers can help you choose the one that suits your needs.

Holafly additional features

On top of offering unlimited data with every eSIM, Holafly takes non-stop connection to another level with Always On. Once your eSIM validity ends, Always On applies to both subscription plans and single-use eSIMs, giving you 1 GB of data per month in 70+ destinations at no extra cost. This covers your basic connection needs and prevents you from losing connection.

For Holafly Plans subscribers, Holafly also provides a dedicated phone number for receiving texts and 2FA authentication. That said, the number can’t be used to make calls or send texts. Instead, you can use Holafly’s unlimited data to make voice or video calls and send texts via VoIP apps instead.

Airalo additional features

If having a phone number for calls and texts is a must, Airalo is the only one of the two to offer this option. Keep in mind that it may be unavailable in some countries, but the overall availability for the service is pretty solid.

Holafly vs Airalo: Which eSIM is better?

When comparing Holafly and Airalo, there’s no universal answer to which one is better. Holafly offers more flexible plan durations and unlimited data with all travel eSIMs, which means you won’t have to track your data usage or worry about losing connection. It also offers monthly subscription options and complimentary mobile data with Always On.

Airalo, on the other hand, has more affordable fixed-data plans if you don’t need much data and offers a phone number for calls and messages in some destinations. It is also ideal for those who simply prefer the pay-per-data model, where you can buy only what you’ll use.
