How to Stay Online With Holafly Always On?
Holafly Always On is a global emergency connection that keeps you online with 1 GB of data every 30 days at no additional cost, even after your main plan has expired (for Daily eSIMs) or been canceled (for Subscriptions). It is included with both products, acting as a permanent safety net as long as you keep your Holafly eSIM installed.
Designed for your peace of mind, Always On ensures you are never stranded when your primary plan is not in use. Whether you are between destinations or during a layover, it provides essential access to messages, maps, bookings, or the Holafly app so you can stay connected when it really matters. Below, you’ll learn how it works for each type of plan, where it’s available, and practical tips to get the most out of this benefit.
How does Always On work
This benefit follows a different activation logic depending on the type of eSIM you’re using. While the monthly 1 GB allowance is the same in both cases, the moment it becomes available supports different stages of your journey.
Daily eSIMs
Starting February 25, 2026 (CET), Always On is included with Daily eSIMs purchased from that date onward and becomes available as soon as your eSIM is installed. From that moment, you receive a 1 GB monthly allowance that you can use during layovers or once your purchased days have ended. It renews automatically every 30 days from the installation date of your eSIM, not the calendar month. You can use it every month as long as you don’t delete the eSIM, provided that it is turned on and Data Roaming is enabled.
International subscription eSIMs
Starting November 4, 2025 (CET), for International Subscription plans purchased from that date, Always On provides continued reassurance even if you stop your recurring plan. Rather than activating when you cancel, this connection starts automatically as your current period ends. Since your regular service continues until the cycle fully expires, this backup ensures a seamless transition so you are never stranded during layovers. It renews every 30 days as long as the eSIM remains installed.
Coverage: Where Always On is available?
The Always On benefit works in 70+ supported destinations across regions such as the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
It’s important to note that coverage for this emergency data may differ from your main plan. If you have a Subscription that includes 170+ countries, Always On applies only to the 70+ main destinations listed below. For Daily eSIMs, even if you purchased data for a single country, your 1 GB allowance can be used across any of the supported destinations on this list.
Below, you’ll find the full list grouped by region for easy reference.
- Europe: Germany, Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Norway, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, Croatia, Albania, Sweden, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Denmark, Slovakia, Montenegro, Cyprus, Latvia, Luxembourg, Finland, Malta, Estonia, Slovenia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Iceland, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia.

How to check Always On coverage in the Holafly App
Since destinations can vary, you can always check real-time coverage directly in the Holafly app to confirm whether Always On is available in your current location.
- Open the Holafly app → Tap on Plans → Select Always On → Tap on Coverage → You’ll see the list of included countries.
Terms and Conditions
- This benefit applies to all destination eSIMs, except for plans purchased for the following locations: China, Palestine, Yemen, Monaco, Sierra Leone, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Bonaire, Curaçao, Faroe Islands, Guinea, Haiti, Iran, Niger, Sudan, Cambodia, Shanghai, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia.
- Always On works only while the Holafly eSIM remains installed on the original device. If you delete the eSIM, the benefit is permanently lost. We recommend deactivating the line instead of removing it.
- If the order linked to the eSIM is fully refunded, the Always On benefit will be voided.
- Unused data does not roll over. Each 30-day cycle, you receive a fresh 1 GB allowance, regardless of previous usage.
- This backup benefit works only in the 70+ supported destinations listed above, which may differ from your original plan's coverage
- This feature is strictly tied to the specific device used for the initial installation. It cannot be transferred to a new phone or a different eSIM.
- Access is valid for 12 months. However, Holafly reserves the right to verify the status of the service if it remains inactive for several weeks.
- If you use a Regional or Multi-destination Daily eSIM, turning on mobile data in a country included in your purchased plan automatically starts your plan’s validity. To avoid unintended activation, use this backup connection only in destinations not covered by your plan or after your purchased days end.
To keep in mind
- If you have multiple eligible Holafly eSIMs installed (for example, finished Daily eSIMs or canceled Subscription plans), each one can generate its own 1 GB allowance.
- If you don’t want the benefit, simply delete the eSIM from your phone. Keep in mind that once you remove it, you’ll permanently lose access to your monthly 1 GB of free data.
- If you’re not planning to use the 1 GB yet, you can keep the eSIM turned off until you need it. Naming your travel eSIM on an iPhone or Android (for example, with the destination) can also help you avoid confusion with your personal SIM.
- While data sharing is possible, we do not recommend using Always On as a hotspot. Background updates from connected devices can drain the 1 GB allowance very quickly.
- You can always track your usage percentage directly in the Plans section of the Holafly App to see how much of your 1 GB is remaining.
Troubleshooting tips
1. If you think Always On didn’t activate correctly, try the following:
- Make sure your eSIM is still installed and not deleted.
- Check that your billing cycle has fully ended if you had a subscription plan.
- Turn on your eSIM the same way you did the first time.
- Check that you’re in one of the supported destinations.
- Restart your phone and verify that mobile data is enabled.
- Check your Holafly account on the APP to see if the benefit appears active.
2. If you still can’t activate your 1 GB of global emergency connection data, contact Holafly Support for manual activation. Include your purchase email, the eSIM ICCID, and the exact cancellation date in the case of Holafly Plans, so our team can review your case and enable the benefit for you.
