Verizon customers in the US can use their Verizon eSIM for international travel by adding a daily travel pass, buying monthly international coverage, or relying on pay-per-use roaming

Read on to learn all you need to know about Verizon’s international eSIM services, including how to use them, coverage, plans, and pricing. If none of them feel right by the end, we’ll also introduce an unlimited data alternative — a dedicated travel eSIM from Holafly

This article is for Verizon customers in the U.S. planning international travel. If you’re a U.S. resident looking for Verizon eSIM options within the country, check out our Verizon eSIM USA guide. Visiting the U.S. as a tourist? Our Verizon tourist SIM guide is for you.

Verizon eSIM for international travel

Does Verizon sell travel eSIMs for outside of the US?

No. There is no specific Verizon travel eSIM like the ones provided by Holafly.

Verizon instead offers only existing customers the possibility to use their eSIM abroad with a daily TravelPass, an international monthly plan, and pay-per-use roaming.

How to use your Verizon eSIM outside of the US

Let’s work through the different ways you can use a Verizon international eSIM — including plans, pricing and coverage for each.

Verizon TravelPass

One way to get Verizon eSIM international access is to use the Verizon TravelPass service:

  • Coverage: 210+ destinations
  • Validity: Daily auto-renew
  • Cost: $6/day for Mexico and Canada, $12/day elsewhere

The Verizon TravelPass offers unlimited daily usage at a flat fee. Once turned on, it is activated automatically when you use your phone abroad.

As with many plans, Verizon caps the fastest data access on a daily basis. You can get up to 5GB of high-speed data before speeds are slowed down.

Verizon international monthly plan

If you’re going on a trip of 9 days or more, Verizon recommends getting a Verizon international monthly plan. It’s typically cheaper than activating your regular data roaming or using the daily packages:

  • Coverage: 210+ destinations
  • Validity: 1 month, can be set to auto-renew
  • Cost: $100/month

The monthly Verizon eSIM international plan offers unlimited data, 250 minutes of talk time, and unlimited texts. Bear in mind that you’ll get 20 GB of high-speed data monthly before the plan slows down to offer unlimited 3G data.

Verizon pay-per-use roaming

Your final option for Verizon eSIM international use is to rely on Verizon international roaming for your trip.

In this case, the costs you pay depend on the destination, and the amount of data required. Data in Canada or the UK, as an example, costs $2.05/MB. This means that you can end up paying more for a few minutes of scrolling social media than you would for a full day with TravelPass.
