FlexiRoam eSIM review: Plans, service, and app
Let’s dive a bit deeper into all the important details about each essential aspect of FlexiRoam data plans, connection quality, and app usability.
Plans and pricing
FlexiRoam offers a variety of eSIM plans, including Fixed, Unlimited, Voice & Text, and Inflight options. The table below shows that regional plans, such as Europe, North America, and the Global plan, provide coverage for multi-destination trips.
Every Fixed FlexiRoam data plan supports data sharing through the FlexiShare option, while Unlimited plans allow tethering but lack this feature. Unlimited plans are more expensive compared to some other eSIM providers, and limited plans may require top-ups for longer trips.
Voice & Text plans enable calls and texts if you don’t want to use your existing SIM card abroad, and Inflight plans offer connectivity on select airlines.

Connection quality
On their website, FlexiRoam claims that their eSIM automatically connects to the strongest signal in the country you are in, choosing from more than 500 operators. However, when scanning the user experiences on different review websites, it’s clear this strong coverage doesn’t precisely work as promised.

Don’t waste your time. After 3 contacts while still in the US to get specific installation instructions, I got what they said were specific. It took 3 contacts to get those instructions and was told I would have to wait until I got to Austria to activate with those instructions. Followed the instructions to the letter and guess what, it doesn’t work. Sent an email 3 times to get help but have gotten no response. I deleted the app but when I try to delete the eSIM I get a warning message from the phone that I’ll have to contact Verizon to get the phone reset. A royal pain to say the least. I won’t ever try this company again. Lost $20 and can’t use my phone for anything but a camera.
Purchased eSim and they charged the plan on the old sim. Then had to wait for 24 hours to have it changed. Then eSim stopped working after 1day, they kept sending the same instructions again and again and told me it was escalated and they are keeping eye on it. NO! I want to have it fixed straight away! NEED THE INTERNET to navigate! […]When you are overseas you do need the INTERNET! I had no internet nor 2days and wasted time communicating with them. Flexiroam ruined my trip. I needed the working eSim! I will NEVER purchase eSim from Flexiroam
Customer service
You can contact the FlexiRoam customer service in several ways. They offer a contact form, different social media channels, WhatsApp, and a chatbot on their website.
The chat option is not always visible on all pages. However, you can reach it from the home page. It will offer an AI assistant, but you can choose to talk to an agent instantly. Moreover, as soon as the AI assistant doesn’t know the answer, it automatically connects you to an agent.
You can continue the chat via Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or Instagram by clicking on the upper right corner of the Chat window.
According to many customer reviews, customer support seems to be a strong suite of this eSIM provider.
It works and customer service via what’s app is amazing. Super quick, friendly and they solve an problem. It took me a bit to install it particularly the settings but with their help it was resolved. So happy to have a customer service that is so responsive!!!
The real time agent stayed for as long as he/she can until my problem is solved. Their customer service never disappoints.
FlexiRoam X review

FlexiRoam eSIM user review: What do customers say?
Let’s look into some of the typical positive and negative reviews about FlexiRoam from real users and see what worked fine and what wasn’t working so well for them.
Positive reviews
Most of the positive reviews have one thing in common – helpful customer service that saved the day. That’s very commendable, especially if you are on a trip.
While I have used a FlexiroamX physical SIM for years, this was the first time I’ve tried an eSIM. When I had problems installing, I reached out by email and had the problem solved before I left for travel almost immediately.
However, activating the data pack was not so easy.
I had problem getting the referral data. Contacted the support team and they responded very fast and resolved the matter. Very helpful and answered all my question. Thank you.
I’ve used their plan twice (once in the Philippines and once in the Netherlands) the Philippines was an easy time and I figured it out right away. the Netherlands was a little weird and I was having phone issues. BUT staff were super friendly I reached out to them and they responded right away with really thorough and clear instructions.
Negative reviews
While the support is great and saves the day, some users seem to think that their investment has been a waste of money because their FlexiRoam data plans just don’t work. It seems like the coverage is spotty worldwide, even though they offer global data plans.
The plan was overpriced and unreliable. I brought this for my trip to Mexico deciding to try out an eSIM over a physical local SIM. I found that despite having full signal and mobile data on I actually couldn’t access any data without the roaming.
Terrible experience with this app.be careful!! I used this a few months before and it took a lot of time to make it work. This time, I paid for 3GB ahead of my trip as data to use on my 5 day vacation. Got there, surprised it didn’t work. Contacted them, they kept escalating to some “technical team” that never contacted me
The global plans are very strange and expensive too compared to other apps who support the same service!
Holafly’s unlimited data eSIM, a more reliable choice
Both Holafly and FlexiRoam have unlimited data plans, and they both have amazing customer support. However, if you don’t want to be limited by the number of days for your otherwise unlimited plans, Holafly is the way to go. With it, you can choose how many days your eSIM will last. FlexiRoam unlimited data plans go up to 30 days only.
Feature | Holafly | FlexiRoam |
---|---|---|
Data options | Unlimited plans up to 90 days | Unlimited plans up to 30 days |
User feedback | 4.6/5 from 50,000+ users | 4.4/5 from ~2,200 users |
Setup and activation | Instant and simple setup | Requires some initial configuration |
Customer support | 24/7 support in multiple languages | Limited hours, AI-based chatbot |
Connection quality | Reliable and consistent across regions | Mixed reliability reported by users |
Price | more affordable option | more expensive option |
FlexiRoam eSIM review: The Verdict
FlexiRoam is an interesting choice with unlimited and limited plans. Its customer service is a strong point, but spotty coverage and negative reviews about its eSIMs just not working undo everything.
It’s a hassle you want to avoid, especially while travelling.
Holafly allows you to choose up to 90 days of reliable unlimited data to stay connected, which FlexiRoam cannot match with its offer.
Stellar customer service is offered by both providers, but according to the reviews, FlexiRoam’s service sometimes lacks reliability.
That being said, there is just one thing that your virtual SIM card absolutely must offer: reliable service. All the other options are great to have but not necessary. That’s why you should always go with the proven option trusted by many – Holafly.
