How does the Airhub eSIM work?

Airhub isn’t very different from other eSIM providers in the way that it works. You can buy an eSIM plan on their website or the Airhub app. Once you do, you’ll receive an email with a step-by-step guide on how to activate your eSIM. Upon activation, your eSIM will connect to a local network in the selected country or region.

Just like all international eSIM providers, Airhub doesn’t have its own mobile network. Instead, it has agreements with local carriers in each destination, which, in theory, ensures reliable connectivity wherever you go.

Keep in mind that you’ll need an eSIM-compatible phone to use the service. Most modern phones do support eSIM technology, but do double-check if you’ve never used an eSIM on the device before.

Airhub eSIM review: The details

The information above can be applied to pretty much any eSIM service around. Let’s dive into the details to help you understand whether or not you want to go with Airhub as your eSIM provider.

Network coverage

As briefly mentioned in the introduction, Airhub has a solid network with coverage in 200+ destinations. This means that you’re pretty much certain to get mobile data wherever you go. That said, most plans only offer up to 4G connection speeds, with plans up to 5G being noticeably more expensive.

Nearly all plans only work with a single mobile network, even if Airhub collaborates with multiple providers in the country. This is a drawback compared to other providers such as Holafly, who often include several networks on a single plan and automatically connect to the one that works best in your region.

Plans and pricing

It’s fair to say that Airhub offers one of the largest selections of plans on the eSIM market. On one hand, it’s nice to have many options. On the other hand, the number of options can quickly confuse and overwhelm. For example, there are 33 eSIM plans in the USA alone, which definitely makes choosing one a hefty task.

There are also regional plans for most continents as well as a global plan, all of which are decent choices if you’re going to be crossing a lot of borders and don’t want to buy a separate eSIM for each country you visit.

Airhub is also one of very few providers to offer local phone numbers with minutes and messages included in the plan. While most users only need eSIM for mobile data, it’s a nice addition to those that do need to to make international calls on a regular basis.

The pricing varies significantly between different options. The cheapest plan for the USA starts at $3.75 for 3 GB of data for 30 days, with the most expensive reaching $93.52 for the same 30 days, which includes unlimited data, as well as unlimited calls and messages.

Plans for Canada start at around $7 USD (~$9.75 CAD) and go up to $40.35 (~$56 CAD), while UK plans start as low as $3.09 (~£2.40) and go up to $126.82 (~£97.30). The selection is too plentiful to list out here. Make sure to study the list for the destination of your choice carefully to find the best option for you.

Key features

On top of offering local phone numbers, Airhub also tries to stand out with a promise of a 30-day money-back guarantee if the service fails to work as intended. Unfortunately, there are quite a few user reports stating that the guarantee isn’t really being followed, so don’t take Airhub’s word for granted here.

Airhub also offers 100 MB of free data, valid in 80 countries. This offer essentially acts as a trial period for testing out the quality of its services. To make your user experience a bit more convenient, Airhub offers dedicated apps for iOS and Android, which allows you to track your data usage across apps and manage your plans easier.

Customer support

Airhub offers 24/7 customer support via live chat and email. You’ll also find fairly lengthy FAQ and Help Center sections that provide answers to the most common questions and guides to solve common issues.

That said, some users report slow response times. In some cases, the support team was unable to solve their issues at first, and it may take several requests to finally get things sorted out. It must be said that other users praise the support team for quick and accurate answers. So don’t expect a negative experience in advance.

What do users say about Airhub?

We’ve been hinting at different user reports about the quality of Airhub’s service throughout the article. It’s about time we take a look at what the users have to say in full.

As you can see, the user reviews are quite mixed, and the 3.0/5 star rating on Trustpilot only further proves this point. For reference, Holafly has a rating of 4.6/5 over more than 46,000 reviews.

The vast data plan selection as well as beautiful promises about refunds and fast customer support do seem appealing. However, reviews by actual customers show that they’re not always true.

Choose an eSIM service you can trust

Don’t want the stress of not knowing whether or not your eSIM will work or if you’ll get customer support in time? Choose a provider you can trust. Holafly offers complete peace of mind with unlimited data plans in all of its 200+ destinations, with timely customer support and a flexible refund policy that actually works.
