Does Lebara have international roaming? 

Yes, Lebara offers international roaming. This allows you to call, text, and use mobile data on your phone abroad without needing a local SIM card. 

Lebara currently offers three ways to roam abroad: Roam Like Home (for all SIM only plans), roaming add-ons, and pay-as-you-go roaming rates.

In addition to roaming with your existing Lebara plan, Lebara also offers a travel eSIM for 190+ destinations. This service claims to offer one global eSIM, no roaming charges, and local data rates based on your destination. 

Lebara roaming countries

Lebara includes a Roam Like Home zone, like many UK carriers, where you can use your call, text, and data allowances (subject to Fair Use policies) while roaming in the EU and/or India.

Lebara international roaming plans

You can stay connected abroad with Lebara through Roam Like Home, roaming add-ons, or pay standard rates for calls, texts, and data. 

Roam Like Home (for those on SIM only plans)

This roaming feature is for users who live in the UK and travel to EU destinations and/or India. The specific locations are mentioned in the table above. 

With Lebara’s Roam Like Home, you can use all your UK call and text allowances and up to 30 GB of data. If your monthly plan’s data allowance exceeds this, you’ll be capped at 30 GB abroad. 

If it is less than 30 GB, you’ll be able to use all of your plan’s data allowance. 

Roaming add-ons 

Roaming add-ons are available for both Roam Like Home and non-inclusive destinations. Prices vary slightly. 

If you’re on a SIM only plan, headed to a Roam Like Home destination, and expect to run out of your data allowance, you can purchase roaming add-ons: 

  • 8-day Roaming Add-On: 3 GB for £5 
  • 15-day Roaming Add-On: 8 GB for £10

If you’re headed to any of the following destinations where Roam Like Home is not available, you can purchase the following two roaming add-ons: 

  • 8-Day Add-On: 1 GB for £5
  • 15-Day Add-On: 3 GB data, 50 roaming minutes, 50 roaming texts for £15

The add-on’s validity begins from the day of purchase. If you have problems accessing data abroad, you can manually set your data settings:

Pay As You Go rates (for roaming)

You must have credit on your account to use PAYG. If you’re not headed to a Roam Like Home destination or you’ve run out of your allowances, you can pay standard rates to continue using your phone abroad. 

  • Data: £93 per GB
  • Incoming calls: 49p per minute
  • Outgoing calls: 49p per minute
  • Incoming texts: Free
  • Outgoing texts: 49p per minute 

How to activate Lebara data roaming

You won’t have to tell Lebara that you’re going abroad, especially if you’re headed to a Roam Like Home destination. But you’ll need to enable data roaming on your device.

  1. Head to your phone’s Settings > Mobile Data > Data Roaming.
  2. Turn it ON.
  3. Check APN/data settings.
  4. Ensure your data settings match Lebara’s requirements.
  5. Restart your phone (this helps connect to a local network abroad). 
  6. Select network manually (if needed).
