iD Mobile roaming services will help you stay connected when you travel. If you’re an iD Mobile customer, understanding how iD Mobile roaming works can help you avoid unexpected costs and get the best value for money.

This guide explains everything you need to know about iD Mobile roaming charges, countries, plans, and coverage, so you can confidently use your phone abroad. We also cover an alternative solution, an unlimited data travel eSIM from Holafly.

Does iD Mobile have international roaming?

Yes, iD Mobile international roaming is standard on all SIM-only and iD Mobile plans.

Roaming services offered by carriers allow customers to use their phones abroad in a wide range of destinations. Depending on your plan and destination, you may be able to roam free using your UK monthly allowances (minutes, texts, and data), or you may incur additional roaming charges.

Roaming works by connecting your mobile phone to a partner network provider in another country. Costs and allowances depend on whether you’re travelling to inclusive zones or beyond them.

As an iD Mobile customer, you can use your UK monthly allowances of minutes, text, and data (up to 30 GB) in 50 destinations worldwide.

How to activate iD Mobile data roaming

Ensure data roaming is enabled on your device first. Head to your phone’s settings and turn on data roaming.

Next, you’ll have to turn on roaming on your iD Mobile app or via My Account online.

  1. Open your phone’s settings.
  2. Go to Mobile Data or Connections
  3. Turn on Data Roaming
  4. Log in to the iD Mobile app or account:
  • Check roaming is enabled
  • Review your plan and allowances
  • Consider purchasing Roam Beyond add-ons if travelling outside Band 1 or 2.

Purchase your Roam Beyond add-on while you’re still in the UK to avoid out-of-plan charges. If you choose to purchase once you reach your destination, keep mobile data off and buy an add-on via a WiFi connection.

    1. Log in to the iD app or visit the website: my.idmobile.co.uk.
    2. Click “View add-ons” on your Home Screen.
    3. Click “Roam Beyond” add-on and select your destination.
    4. Select your add-on and click confirm.

Avoid iD Mobile roaming charges with an unlimited data Holafly eSIM
