TracFone is a virtual mobile network operator run by Verizon that offers prepaid plans, and if you’re looking for a TracFone eSIM, you can only buy them online. Also, they only work on iPhone devices.

Let’s explore the different TracFone eSIM plans available, their pricing, and how to activate them. Plus, we explore alternatives like the Holafly travel eSIM in case TracFone isn’t a match for you.

TracFone eSIM plans for locals

TracFone offers twelve eSIM plans for locals, which are split into two categories: SmartPhone Plans and Basic Plans.

Let’s see how each one works and what they include.

Note: All TracFone plan prices are shown without taxes and fees, as these will vary by plan and location.

There are five SmartPhone Plans available, and these are available for purchase for periods of 1 to 12 months.

Here’s what you should know about each plan:

  • $15/month Plan: Includes 1 GB of mobile data, unlimited talk and text, and mobile hotspot.
  • $20/month Plan: Includes 4 GB of mobile data, unlimited talk and text, mobile hotspot, and free international calls and texts to Canada and Mexico.

Basic Plans offer fixed amounts of data, calls, and texts for 90- to 365-day periods, and TracFone currently offers six of these plans.

Here’s what you should know about each of these:

  • $79.99 for 90 days: Includes 450 minutes for talk, text, and web usage.
  • $99.99 for 365 days: Includes 400 minutes for talk, text, and web usage.

TracFone eSIM-compatible phones

Currently, TracFone eSIM plans are only available on iOS devices

According to TracFone, iPhones starting with the Series 12 are compatible with their eSIM service. However, there’s a compatibility checker you can use to confirm  this.

No other eSIM-compatible phones are eligible for using TracFone eSIM plans, for now. So if you have an Android phone, a SIM card for the USA is your only option to use TracFone, but you can rely on Holafly instead to get a reliable travel eSIM.

How to get a TracFone eSIM

All TracFone plans are only available for buy online. You can either bring your own phone or buy a new one to get any of the available eSIM plans.
