Holafly vs. Orange isn’t exactly a straightforward comparison. Holafly is an eSIM service that connects you to various mobile provider networks worldwide. In fact, Holafly even uses the Orange network for some destinations. Meanwhile, Orange is one of the biggest telecommunications companies in the world that also has an eSIM service called Orange Travel.

That said, if you’re looking to compare these two, you most likely want to know how Holafly stacks up against Orange Travel rather than the Orange company as a whole. Follow along for a detailed comparison that should answer all your questions.

Now that you know what to expect from both providers, let’s dive into the comparison.

Plans and pricing

Holafly is known for its flexible unlimited data plans. All Holafly prepaid plans include unlimited data and allow you to choose any duration from 1 to 90 days. All plans also include up to 1 GB of data sharing daily but don’t offer a local phone number for calls or messages.

Orange Travel only offers fixed-data eSIM plans with data limits ranging from 1 GB to 100 GB. All plans also have a fixed duration of either 7, 14, 28, or 30 days.

Notably, many Orange Travel plans also include a phone number, call minutes, and messages in countries and regions where the Orange eSIM works on the Orange network. Since Orange is based in Europe, it collaborates with other providers in different continents to provide wider coverage.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the most popular plans for both providers.

Orange Travel eSIM plans

Orange Travel eSIM planeSIM for EuropeeSIM for USA
1 GB of data for 7 days for €4.99 (~$5.25)5 GB for 30 days for €11.99 (~$12.60)
5 GB of data for 30 days for €12.99 (~$13.60)10 GB for 14 days for €24.99 (~$26.20)
12 GB of data, unlimited calls, and 200 SMS messages for 14 days for €21.99 (~$23.05)20 GB for 30 days for €34.99 (~$36.70)
30 GB of data, unlimited calls, and 1,000 SMS messages for 14 days for €39.99 (~$41.90)50 GB for 30 days for €49.99 (~$52.40)
70 GB of data, unlimited calls, and 1,000 SMS messages for 28 days for €49.99 (~$52.40)100 GB for 30 days for €69.99 (~$72.35)
100 GB of data for 30 days for €59.99 (~$62.90)

As you can see, Orange offers a more complete and more affordable package in Europe, where it owns the network. That said, you get less for more with the USA plan, as well as some other plans outside of Europe. In this case, the price of a 100 GB plan is nearly identical to Holafly’s unlimited plan.

Subscription options

What if you need mobile data for longer than a few months? With Orange Travel, you’d have to buy a new eSIM every 30 days. Holafly offers a more convenient solution with Holafly Connect. It’s a pay-monthly subscription service that allows you to choose between 10 GB, 25 GB, or unlimited data per month with unlimited data sharing.

On top of that, Holafly Connect offers near-global coverage with well over 100 destinations included in each plan. Use it for as long as you need and cancel anytime without any cancellation fees.

Coverage

Holafly offers coverage in 200+ destinations, which means that you can get a Holafly eSIM plan pretty much anywhere in the world. All destinations are available as local eSIM plans, but you can also get regional plans for nine different regions, and even global eSIM plans from Holafly as well.

Orange Travel covers 100+ destinations, with 30+ being a part of the Orange Telecommunications network and the rest coming through partnerships with other providers. Orange also offers an Orange Holiday Europe regional plan and a global plan, but no regional plans for other continents.

Keep in mind that regional plans often don’t cover every single country in the region. So, if you’re visiting multiple destinations for your upcoming trip, take some time to double-check and make sure that the plan includes every destination you need.

Speed

Both providers offer speeds up to 5G with their eSIM plans. However, while all Holafly plans include 5G coverage, the same can’t be said about Orange Travel.

Interestingly, Orange’s 5G coverage is based on the plan that you choose rather than the destination. For example, Holiday Europe plans with 1 GB, 12 GB, and 30 GB of data only offer speeds up to 4G LTE, while the 5 GB, 70 GB, and 100 GB plans offer speeds up to 5G.

Keep in mind that any plan with 5G coverage will only offer 5G speeds where they’re available. This typically includes cities and other densely populated areas. Meanwhile, smaller towns, villages, and remote areas usually have slower mobile internet.

Ease of use

Holafly and Orange Travel are both easy to use, thanks in no small part to intuitive apps for iOS and Android. Apps from either provider make it easy to buy and activate your eSIM. You’ll also be able to access some key features here, such as live chat with customer support or vast knowledge bases with the most common questions.

Once you make your purchase, you’ll receive a QR code, which you can then use to set up the eSIM manually or via the app. If you’re using one of Orange’s limited data plans, you can also quickly top-up more data through the app to avoid losing connection. This won’t be necessary with Holafly, as all plans already include unlimited data.

Customer support

24/7 customer support is a key building block of any global service, and thankfully, both Holafly and Orange Travel have it.

With Holafly, you can contact support agents through live chat, WhatsApp, or email. Support is available in multiple languages, and knowledgeable agents are ready to help you out no matter if you’re experiencing issues with the service or simply have questions.

Orange offers the option to contact support via live chat, a ticketing system, or email. All live chats start with a few questions from an AI chatbot, but you can get to a support agent fairly quickly if that’s what you want to do. Once again, support is knowledgeable and should be able to help you with a majority of eSIM-related questions or issues.

Refund policy

No service is safe from having issues. eSIMs are no exception. And you probably don’t want to lose the money you paid if the eSIM doesn’t work as intended. That’s why a solid refund policy is crucial.

Holafly has a flexible refund policy, providing full refunds for any plans that you weren’t able to use or activate. Full or partial refunds are also available in most cases when you start to use the eSIM, but it stops working after a while. You also have a generous period of up to 6 months to file your refund claim, giving you plenty of time to test the service.

Orange’s policy only provides a refund if you never started using the plan. If you use some data and the eSIM stops working before the data limit runs out, you won’t get a refund. You also only have 14 days after purchase to fill out a refund request.

Holafly vs. Orange Travel: Which one’s better?

At the end of the day, there’s no single answer to which eSIM is better. We all have different needs, and the best eSIM is the one that suits them perfectly. Holafly offers unlimited data, so you know that you’ll always stay connected. On the other hand, Orange provides unlimited phone calls and text messages with some plans, something Holafly does not offer.

If you still haven’t decided which one to go with, here’s a quick refresher on how these two stack up in the main categories of this comparison.
