What plug type does Turkey use?
Turkey uses Type C and Type F plugs. Type C has two round pins, is often called the Europlug, and is one of the most common electrical plugs across Europe.
The Type F plug, also known as the Schuko plug, has two round pins and grounding clips on the sides. You’ll notice two earth clips that connect with grounding clips inside the Turkey plug socket for extra safety. These are the same plug types used in Turkey as in much of Europe.
Voltage and frequency
The standard voltage in Turkey is 230V at 50Hz. If you’re traveling from the UK or most of Europe, your devices will typically work without issue because they’re designed for a similar voltage standard.
If you’re coming from the US or Canada, devices are usually rated only for 110-120V and will need a voltage converter. Without one, you risk damaging your appliances.
Check the small print on your device’s charger. If it says “INPUT: 100-240V” or “INPUT: 110-240V,” you only need a plug adapter, not a converter.

Do you need a travel adapter for Turkey?

- At the airport: You can definitely find a power adapter at most airports in electronics shops. But you’ll typically pay two to three times as much as you would online, making it not the most economical option.
- In Turkey: You can buy an adapter in electronics stores in major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, and Izmir. Some hotels may loan you a travel plug, but it’s always safer to pack your own.
