Greece uses type C and F plugs, which are the standard in most European countries, except the UK and Switzerland.
Type C plug, known as Europlug, has two round pins and is the most common, while type F plug, known as Schuko, has two round pins with grounding clips on the sides.
Do you need a travel adapter for Greece?
You’ll need a travel adapter to use plugs in Greece if you’re traveling from the US, Europe, Canada, or most regions of the world.
If you’re traveling from Europe, you won’t need a travel adapter to use outlets in Greece. However, travelers from the UK and former UK territories that use type G, and from Switzerland that use type J, will need a travel adapter in Greece.
Do you need a voltage converter for Greece?

This means travelers from these countries won’t need a voltage converter; they only need an adapter to use plugs in Greece.
Travelers from countries like the United States, Canada, Taiwan, and others might need a voltage converter as 110-120V is the standard in those countries.
This mostly applies to older electronics, or single-voltage devices like heating pads, electric trimmers, non-LED desk lamps, and hair appliances. But newer devices, like smartphones, tablets, laptop chargers, electronic toothbrushes, and Kindles, work with dual-voltage.
For dual-voltage devices, travelers only need a travel adapter, while single-voltage electronics need a travel adapter and a voltage converter to work on Greece plug types.

- Before you travel in the US: Order it online in your preferred store. Look for a type C travel adapter or European travel adapter. Cost should range from $8 to $20.
- At the airport: You can buy it upon arrival at the Athens, Rhodes, or Thessaloniki airports at electronic or convenience stores, but prices are easily three times higher than in the US.
- In Greece: Widely available at local stores like Lidl, Sklavenitis, Kyosky’s, and 24 Shopen, as well as in tourist areas around Mykonos, Athens, Crete, and Santorini, but it’s better to buy before arrival if you’re heading to the countryside or have a full travel agenda. Prices range from €5 to €15 (~$5.70 to $17.90).
