Vodafone AU roaming for Europe: Plans and pricing

When it comes to Vodafone Au’s Europe roaming plans and passes, your options depend on whether you’re a pay-monthly or prepaid customer. Understanding these options is important to manage your Vodafone AU roaming costs in Europe.

$5 Roaming

Vodafone $5 Roaming for Europe lets you use your home plan’s data, texts, and calls in more than 50 destinations for $5/day

You can use $5 Roaming for a maximum of 90 days per calendar year, and only if you have one of the following eligible monthly plans:

  • For Vodafone Infinite, Plus, and Vodafone Infinite Data Plans: You can use your regular data, but once it runs out, you’ll be charged $5 for each extra 1 GB. This excludes capped speed data.
  • For Ultra+ Plans: Your phone data is unlimited. If you use more than 30 GB for the hotspot, you’ll be charged $5 for each additional 1GB.

Vodafone AU’s $5 Roaming for Europe should be automatically activated in your phone, and the daily fee will only be charged on days you make a call, send a text, or use mobile data while overseas.

Pay-As-You-Go Roaming

Vodafone AU offers a pay-as-you-go roaming option that charges for every minute, text, or MB of data used while you’re in Europe.

You’ll be charged these pay-as-you-go rates if you are a Vodafone AU pay-monthly customer and:

  • You’re in a location where $5 Roaming isn’t available.
  • Your current plan isn’t eligible for $5 Roaming.
  • You have used up your 90 calendar days of $5 Roaming.

The standard rates are $1 per minute for calls, $0.75 per sent text or PXT, and $1 per MB of data used. These charges are in addition to your regular monthly bill.

Prepaid Roaming add-ons

If you’re a prepaid customer, you can’t use the $5 Roaming plan. Instead, you need to purchase a prepaid roaming add-on. There are a few different options available:

  • $5 Add-on: Includes 200 MB of data, 25 minutes of calls, and 30 texts. Valid for 1 day.
  • $15 Add-on: Includes 750 MB of data, 90 minutes of calls, and 120 texts. Valid for 3 days.
  • $35 Add-on: Includes 2 GB of data, 200 minutes of calls, and 300 texts. Valid for 7 days.

You can activate each plan by texting ROAM1, ROAM3, or ROAM7, respectively to 1511

Without an active roaming add-on, you will be subject to the same pay-as-you-go rates as pay-monthly customers.

  • Opt for an eSIM: An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile plan from a local or international provider without needing a physical SIM card.
