With Experience plans, you can use your local data allowance while in Canada and get unlimited phone calls and text messages.

But if you’re using a different T-Mobile plan, like the Essential plans, you can use an International Travel Pass instead.

Lastly, if you don’t have a roaming plan and opt not to use an International Travel Pass, you can use your T-Mobile service in Canada with the pay-as-you-go option.

T-Mobile roaming in Canada: Plans and pricing

Here’s all the info about the three roaming options T-Mobile offers if you’re traveling to Canada.

Experience plans

T-Mobile offers two plans, Experience Beyond and Experience More, which are eligible for roaming in Canada at no extra cost.

These plans cost $85 to $100 with an eligible payment method, plus taxes and fees.

With these plans, you can use up to 30 GB of high-speed data while traveling to Canada. Once you deploy that amount, you’ll get unlimited data at up to 256kbps. Plus, every plan includes unlimited calling and texting.

However, this option is not meant to be used as a long-term connectivity alternative. As stated in the plans’ T&Cs, T-Mobile can block the roaming service if it’s used for too long.

Lastly, all Experience Beyond and Experience More plans have the roaming service activated, so you’ll only need to turn on the data roaming in your phone.

International Travel Pass

If you’re an Essential plan user or have any other T-Mobile eligible plan different than the Experience ones, you can rely on an International Travel Pass.

There are three T-Mobile plans for Canada:

1 Day: For $5, you’ll get 512 MB plus unlimited calling. You can get unlimited international text messages if included in your local plan.
10 Days: For $35, you’ll get 5 GB plus unlimited calling and, if your local plan includes it, unlimited international texting.
30 Days: For $50, you’ll get 15 GB plus unlimited calling and, if your local plan includes it, unlimited international texting.

You can only activate one of these plans at a time, and if you activate one plan while the other is still active, you’ll lose all the benefits from the previous one.

To activate an International Travel Pass, here’s what you need to do:

Use the T-Life App and open your T-Mobile account.
Choose “Manage” and tap “See Plans.”
Select “Manage Add-ons” and choose “One-time Data Pass.”
Choose your preferred travel pass and tap “Continue.”
Select “Change Date” to choose when your pass becomes active. It will start working immediately if you don’t select the activation date.
Tap “Agree & Submit,” and you’re good to go.

Pay-as-you-go

If you’re not using an Experience or International Travel Pass-eligible plan, you can rely on the pay-as-you-go T-Mobile service in Canada.
