Does Telus offer roaming for Europe?

Yes! Telus offers Canadian travelers three ways to use international roaming in Europe.

These are:

  • Easy Roam
  • Easy Roam Travel Pass
  • Pay-per-use

Telus Europe roaming countries

Telus roaming in Europe coverage includes over 40 destinations. These are split into Easy Roam and Easy Roam Travel Pass locations.

Here’s a list of which destinations are included in each service:

PassDestinations included
Easy Roam & Easy Roam Travel PassAland Islands, Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom

Both plans cover the same countries, but Easy Roam also works in two additional destinations: St Pierre & Miquelon and Russia, which aren’t included in the Travel Pass.

Note: Russia is listed as a country with Telus roaming coverage. However, as Telus states, the service might be limited.

Telus roaming in Europe: Plans and prices

Roaming in Europe with Telus is possible in three ways, each with its own allowances and pricing. Telus’ Europe roaming plans have different pricing structures.

Here’s what you need to know about Telus’ Easy Roam, Easy Roam Travel Pass, and pay-per-use for Europe.

Easy Roam

Easy Roam is available for every Canadian using Telus mobile plans.

For all the European destinations listed above, pricing is CAD $16/day. Here’s what the plan includes:

  • Text: Unlimited
  • Talk: Unlimited calls to Canada and within your destination
  • Data: Included within your monthly data allowance

To activate the service, simply send a message to 7626 with the word TRAVEL. Your account will be enabled, and the service will be activated in ~30 seconds. Alternatively, you can use My TELUS website to activate the Easy Roam service.

Once this is done, the service will only be activated once you use data, make a phone call, or send a text message once you’re at your destination. No extra charges will be applied if you activate Easy Roam in Canada.

Note: If you run out/need more data during your trip, you can add a top-up using the My TELUS app or My TELUS website. You can do this before or during your trip.

Easy Roam Travel Pass (Europe)

Easy Roam Travel Passes are available for every Telus customer and are a better option when travelling for more extended periods.

There’s a single 14-day roaming pass, including all the above destinations, for $50. Here’s what you get with the Easy Roam Travel Pass:

  • Text: Unlimited
  • Talk: Unlimited calls to Canada and within your destination
  • Data: Included within your monthly data allowance

You can activate it following the same steps as the Easy Roam service or through the My TELUS website. You’ll also have to activate the data roaming option on your phone.

Note: All Telus Travel Passes remain active for 45 days after activation.

Pay-per-use

As a Canadian Telus customer, pay-per-use roaming is available when you haven’t activated an Easy Roam pass.

Prices range from $5/MB to $10/MB. For example, pay-per-use roaming in destinations like Spain, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany costs:

  • $5/MB
  • $2/minute
  • $0.75/text

Meanwhile, roaming in locations like Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania will set you back:

  • $10/MB
  • $3.50/minute
  • $0.75/text

To check the rates for your destination, use the My TELUS search bar and check how much the pay-per-use is in your travel destination.

How to avoid Telus roaming charges in Europe

Telus roaming rates in Europe are somewhat accessible. Still, there are ways you can avoid surprise roaming charges as you travel:

  • Rely on a roaming pass: Pay-per-use rates can easily set you back over $100 after watching just one Instagram video. Activate Easy Roam as an alternative to save extra money.
  • Keep an eye on your data usage: Your data allowance can run out even on an Easy Roam plan. Monitoring your data consumption will help you prevent paying for data roaming top-ups or pay-per-use charges.
  • Choose a cheaper roaming option: Roaming in Europe with Telus is possible, but it’s not the cheapest option. Consider alternatives, like eSIMs, that give you a similar service at a fraction of the cost.

Holafly’s eSIM for Europe: Unlimited data, 40 destinations

Telus roaming is a reliable and simple way to access your data allowance while traveling abroad.

However, there’s another option with greater benefits for those travelling from Canada to Europe.

With the eSIM for Europe from Holafly, you get access to unlimited data plans and up to 1 GB of data sharing per day.

Plans start at $8/day, but get cheaper the longer you stay. For example, a 10-day eSIM for Europe costs $55 – or just $5/day.

Need a steady connection for longer periods of time and don’t want to rely on an Easy Roam Travel Pass? Try Holafly Connect, a monthly subscription that costs ~$88.85/month. It gives you unlimited data sharing, unlimited tethering, and up to 5G connectivity. Plus, it works in over 170 destinations, including coverage in all of Europe.
