Telus international roaming: Rates, plans, and coverage
Telus Easy Roam charges by the day, and Travel Passes cover a set number of days. Compare both, plus pay-per-use rates, before your next trip.
Telus Easy Roam lets you use your existing plan in more than 200 destinations. You keep your number, and your Canadian allowances travel with you.
What trips people up is the data. Easy Roam uses the allowance already on your plan, so if you’ve spent most of it before you fly, there isn’t much left for maps and messaging when you land.
This guide covers Easy Roam, the regional Travel Passes and pay-per-use rates, with current pricing. It also covers travel eSIMs from Holafly, which run on a separate line and leave your Telus data untouched.

What is Telus Easy Roam?
Easy Roam is Telus’s daily roaming service. It lets you use the data, calls and texts already on your Telus plan while abroad, for a flat fee on each day you use your phone.
Telus partners with local networks in over 200 destinations, so your phone connects automatically when you land. There is nothing to activate beyond switching data roaming on.
What Easy Roam includes
- All the data from your monthly plan, including shared data.
- Unlimited calls to Canada and within the country you are visiting.
- Unlimited incoming and outgoing texts to any number worldwide.

Telus international roaming destinations
Telus’ Easy Roam roaming plan is available in over 200 destinations. If you’re currently on any Telus monthly rate plan, you’ll be able to use this roaming option.
You can also opt for an Easy Roam Travel Pass, which offers international coverage in four regions and over 90 destinations combined: the USA, Caribbean and Mexico destinations, Asia, and Europe.

How the daily charge works
- Easy Roam activates when you use data, send a text, or make or receive a call. Receiving a text does not activate it.
- Once activated it runs until 11:59 PM in the time zone you are in.
- Switch data roaming off on days you do not want to be charged.
- Each line on an account needs Easy Roam enabled separately, so families travelling together should check every device.
Easy Roam applies on land. Cruise ships and aircraft are charged separately, at $7.00 a minute for calls and $0.75 a text, with data unavailable.

A Travel Pass covers a set number of days without the daily charge. Telus sells them by region rather than as a single international pass.

Passes stay valid for 30 days from the date you add them, or 45 days for the 30-day versions. They activate when you arrive rather than when you buy, so you can add one before you fly without losing days.
Travel Pass or daily rate: which suits your trip?
Both give you the same allowances, so the choice comes down to trip length.

The Europe 30-day pass works out at $2 a day. For anything beyond a few days, a pass generally comes to less than the daily rate. Telus does not apply passes automatically, so you add one yourself in My TELUS.
Telus pay-per-use rates
Without Easy Roam or a Travel Pass, standard rates apply per minute, per text and per megabyte.

Because data is metered per megabyte rather than capped, a short session of maps or messaging can add up quickly. At $10 per MB in zone 2, a few minutes of navigation costs more than a 14-day Travel Pass.
Roaming included with your Telus plan
Some Telus plans include roaming without any add-on.

- 5G+ Complete Explore plans include data, talk and text across Canada and in 68 international destinations at no extra cost.

How to add a Telus roaming plan to your phone
Add a Travel Pass
- Sign in to the My TELUS app or telus.com.
- Go to Add-ons and choose Travel.
- Pick your region and the number of days you need.
- You can also text the pass code to 7626.
For Easy Roam, text ROAM to 7626 before you travel to confirm you are enrolled.
How to activate international roaming on an iPhone:
- Open Settings, then Mobile Data.
- Tap Mobile Data Options.
- Switch Data Roaming on.
How to activate international roaming on an Android:
- Open Settings, then Network & internet.
- Tap Mobile network.
- Switch Roaming on.
