redONE roaming: Coverage, plans, and pricing
All you need to know about redONE roaming as a postpaid add-on package, including the costs, available coverage and how to get started.
Need mobile internet when traveling abroad? redONE offers roaming options to its customers, including buying custom data packages for common destinations or using pay-per-use access.
This guide covers how redONE roaming works, including its plans, how to activate roaming, avoid high roaming charges, and an alternative — Holafly — for unlimited data while traveling.

What is redONE roaming?
redONE is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) operating in Malaysia, Singapore, and other key countries across Southeast Asia. If you already use redONE Singapore for local connectivity, you can also add a redONE data roaming option when travelling.
Roaming in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and other select ASEAN countries is included in some redONE postpaid plans.
For other destinations — or if you need more data than your postpaid plan provides — redONE also offers destination-specific roaming add-on packages.
redONE roaming countries
Having data roaming when you travel allows you to continue to use your smartphone as you would day to day in Singapore.
Before you sign up for a redONE roaming package, it’s worth checking what data is included in your standard plan, and also thinking about how much data you need for travel.
While redONE plans offer some data for regional use, this may not be enough if you tend to use data-hungry travel apps. And as the redONE pay per use data costs can be high, buying an additional package is often the most cost-effective option.
Some key redONE roaming pass destinations include:
- redONE ASEAN roaming
- redONE Indonesia roaming
- redONE Thailand roaming
- redONE China roaming
- redONE Malaysia roaming

RedOne Pay-Per-Use (PPU) roaming
Once you have fully used your Roaming Package (Data Add-on), you will be charged Pay-Per-Use (PPU) rates. Coverage is available in all the countries listed above, plus select other countries at preferential rates.
Data pricing varies by country and network, ranging from around $0.60/MB to $35/MB, which can be very costly. Therefore, if you’re close to running out of data on your plan, it’s a good idea to get an add-on and avoid PPU rates.
If you don’t want to worry about data usage and stay connected in 200+ destinations, including ASEAN, Europe, US and beyond, an eSIM from Holafly could be a better match.
As long as your phone is eSIM compatible, you’ll find that Holafly can offer low-cost, hassle-free data for as long as your trip lasts.
How to activate redONE roaming
To use your plan overseas, you’ll need to go to redONE and activate roaming.
Here’s how to activate redONE roaming:
- Subscribe to a roaming pack via the redONE App
- Turn on Data Roaming on your phone
- Go to Settings, then Mobile Data
- Tap Carrier Services/Network Selection and then turn Automatic off
- Select the correct preferred network according to the redONE preferred networks for your destination
Bear in mind that if you turn on the redONE roaming setting without having a plan, you may be charged pay-per-use rates. That can end up being very costly, depending on the destination and your usage.
It’s also worth noting that redONE roaming packages become active from the day of purchase and last 30 days. This means you won’t want to buy a package or complete the redONE roaming activation process before you actually travel.

How to avoid high redONE roaming charges
So will I get charged if roaming is on? How can I make the most of a redONE roaming pass without racking up a high bill? Is there a better alternative than redONE roaming?
Here are some tips for avoiding excessive roaming charges:
- Purchase the appropriate roaming add-on like redDATA ASEAN before your trip or get a new one when your data runs out.
- Monitor your data usage through the redONE app.
- Disable background apps and automatic updates.
- Use Wi-Fi for streaming, large downloads, or uploads.
- Enable Airplane Mode when you’re not using your phone.
- Consider switching to an unlimited data eSIM like Holafly for predictable, fixed costs.
