Yes, EE charges for roaming in Spain, which is part of EE’s Europe Zone.
EE EU roaming was free for all customers before Brexit. Post-Brexit, EE introduced daily roaming charges for new customers starting 7 July 2021. If you signed up before this date and have a pay-monthly plan, you can still use free EE roaming in Spain. Customers who joined on or after 7 July 2021 pay a daily fee to use their allowances abroad.

EE roaming charges in Spain
If you’re an EE customer on a contract after 7 July 2021 and are not on a roaming-inclusive plan, you’ll need to check which roaming options are available for you.

EE roaming-inclusive pay-monthly plans
If you’re on any of these plans, you can use EE in Spain at no extra daily charge:

- Full Works
- Roaming Inclusive Extra
- Essentials Plus plan
With EE’s Roam like Home feature, you’ll use your phone exactly as you would in the UK. While there’s no daily fee, these plans have higher monthly rates.
EE Pay monthly plans (roaming not included)
If you’re a pay-monthly customer on a plan that doesn’t include roaming features, you have three options to stay connected with EE in Spain:
Option 1: Daily pass
- Cost: £2.59 per day
- Includes: Your existing UK data, calls, and text allowance
Option 2: 7-day EU Pass
- Cost: £15 for 7 days
- Includes: Your existing UK data, calls, and text allowance
Option 3: 12-day EU Pass
- Cost: £21.50 for 12 days
- Includes: Your existing UK data, calls, and text allowance
Important: EE Safer SIM plans cannot roam abroad – they only work within the UK.
EE Pay as you go plans
As an EE pay-as-you-go customer, you can choose between two passes to use roaming services in Spain:
7-day pass:
- Cost: £10 for 7 days
- Includes: Your existing UK data, calls, and text allowance
24-hour pass:
- Cost: £2.50 for 24 hours
- Includes: Your existing UK data, calls, and text allowance
You can only buy a roaming pass once you arrive in Spain. You’ll automatically receive instructions on how to buy it when you land.
If you exceed your allowance: Standard rates apply: £3 for 500 MB, 70p per voice minute, and 30p per text.
How to activate EE’s Spain roaming
Once you arrive in Spain, you’ll receive a welcome text from EE with instructions on how to get any of the roaming pass options. If you’re already in Spain, visit add-on.ee.co.uk to get any of EE’s roaming passes.
Once you have purchased your EE roaming pass, all you need to do is head to your phone’s settings and turn data roaming on. By doing so, you’ll be able to connect to EE’s cell service and roam in Spain.
