Bell roaming in Mexico: Plans, roaming packages, and pricing
Find out Bell’s Mexico roaming options, prices, and limitations, plus unlimited data alternatives for travelers.
If you’re a Bell customer heading to Mexico, you can use your Bell phone plan there through the carrier’s roaming services. Bell offers different roaming options, including Roam Better, Travel Passes, and pay‑per‑use pricing, each designed to help you stay connected while abroad.
This guide explains how Bell roaming works in Mexico, what each option costs, and how to activate it before or during your trip. We’ll also look at alternatives like Holafly eSIMs, which provide unlimited data without daily roaming fees.
Does Bell work in Mexico?
Yes. Bell works in Mexico through Bell’s partner networks: AT&T Mexico, Movistar, and Telcel, offering LTE/VoLTE and 5G support, depending on coverage and your device. Bell provides three roaming options for Mexico:
- Caribbean and Mexico Travel Pass
- International Travel Pass
- Roam Better – with home data
- Pay-per-use roaming rates
All roaming options are only available to postpaid customers. Bell no longer offers prepaid plans, and existing prepaid users cannot roam outside Canada. Customers needing prepaid service are directed to Lucky Mobile, but Lucky Mobile does not support international roaming either.

Caribbean and Mexico 14-day Travel Pass
This is Bell’s dedicated roaming package for Mexico.
Price: $70 for 14 days
Plan details:
- Use the data from your Mobility rate plan
- Unlimited calling within Mexico and back to Canada
- Unlimited texting (incoming + outgoing)
- Instant activation upon purchase
- Expires automatically after 14 days at 11:59 p.m. ET

International Travel Pass
If you’re planning to visit Mexico as part of a broader international trip, Bell’s International Travel Pass might be a better fit. This pass includes Mexico along with over 200 other global destinations, and offers the same features as the Caribbean and Mexico 14-day Travel Pass—unlimited talk and text, plus data from your Canadian plan.
The International Travel Pass costs $100 CAD for 14 days or $110 CAD for 30 days, giving you greater flexibility if you’re roaming outside of the Mexico-Caribbean region.
Roam Better plan
Roam Better allows you to use your Canadian plan in Mexico for a daily fee.
Price: $16/day
Plan details:
- Use the data from your Canadian plan
- Unlimited calls within Mexico and back to Canada
- Unlimited incoming and outgoing texts
- 20-day maximum charge per billing cycle
- 5 GB/day at full speed. After 5 GB, speeds drop to 512 Kbps
- You may buy additional full-speed data: $8 per 1 GB
Roam Better is available on most monthly Bell plans. It can be activated anytime by texting ROAM to 8000, through your account on the Bell website, or through the MyBell app. If you prefer not to trigger charges, keep data roaming OFF and avoid calls and texts.
Pay-per-use plan
If you don’t have Roam Better or a Travel Pass, Bell automatically charges pay-per-use rates.
Mexico pay-per-use rates:
- $2.50/min (voice)
- $0.99 per outgoing text
- $8.00/MB for data
This is the most expensive option. Just 1 GB at pay-per-use rates would cost over $8,000 CAD, so it’s generally only suitable for emergencies.
