Always On: The latest feature of your Holafly Plans
Discover how Holafly Always On works, the new service that will allow you to have free internet once your Holafly monthly plan ends.
Imagine traveling around the world without ever worrying about your data running out when you need it most, and without paying anything extra. That’s the idea behind Holafly Always On, a feature created to ensure you’re always connected when you need it most.
Always On is exclusively included in Holafly subscription plans and gives you 1 GB every month, which you can use in over 70 countries.
- It activates automatically when your subscription plan ends or is paused.
- No setup, no extra steps, and no additional cost.
- It’s just there, like a digital lifesaver you can use whenever you need it.
This guide explains what Always On is, how it works, and why it can become that silent backup that makes all the difference when you travel.
When you’re on the road, staying connected can be essential, and the good thing is that now it’s easier than ever.
What is Always On Plan and how does it work?
Holafly Always On is that little lifesaver you don’t realize you need until it comes through for you. It’s not an add-on or something you have to switch on separately. It’s built right into your monthly or yearly Holafly Plans subscription and kicks in the moment your main plan runs out or you decide to cancel it.
Think of it as a digital safety net. When your monthly plan reaches the end of its billing cycle, your eSIM doesn’t go offline. Always On automatically kicks in and gives you 1 GB every month so you can have internet everywhere you go without paying anything extra. That gigabyte renews each month as long as the eSIM stays installed, and it covers all the essentials: sending messages, checking email, using maps, confirming reservations or opening the Holafly app to switch or upgrade your plan with a single tap.
The best part is that Holafly Always On never expires. It stays installed and ready to help whenever you need it. Even if you cancel your subscription, this benefit stays active, keeping you online in over 70 countries across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania, with no extra setup and no unexpected charges.
Starting November 4, 2025, Central European Time, Always On will be available for all subscriptions activated from that date. Over time, it will also roll out to cover all monthly and yearly plans, no matter when you originally activated them.
In other words, with Always On, your connection stays uninterrupted. It adjusts when it needs to, but it never goes offline.

In which countries does Always On work?

How to get Always On?
The best thing about it is that it works automatically. You don’t have to do a thing, set anything up, or install a new eSIM. It activates on its own, a few hours after your Holafly Plans billing cycle ends.
It’s important to note that it doesn’t activate right away after you pause or cancel your plan, but a few hours later. When it does, your eSIM switches to Always On, giving you 1 GB at no extra cost so you can stay connected without interruptions every month.
To ensure everything works smoothly, please make sure you meet the following conditions:
- Keep your Holafly Plans installed: Always On only works if you keep your Holafly subscription installed on your device, even when you pause or cancel it. If you remove it, the benefit stops automatically.
- Use Holafly Plans at least once a year: You’ll keep getting 1 GB each month for free as long as you’ve used Holafly Plans at least once in the last year. If not, Holafly may pause the monthly allowance.
- Do not transfer your Holafly Plans to another device: Transfer isn’t available yet for Holafly subscription plans. Moving your plan could result in it being deleted and you losing the benefit.
- If you cancel your subscription, do not delete the eSIM: You can cancel your subscription plan without any issues, just make sure to keep the eSIM installed. If you need to turn off data to use another line, simply do it through your phone’s settings. This way, Always On will still be ready whenever you need it.
What are the advantages and limitations of Holafly Always On?
Before we go any further, it’s helpful to know what Always On can actually do for you. It’s meant to keep you connected when it matters most, but it does have its limits, so understanding them will help you get the most out of it.
Here’s a look at what makes Always On so useful for travelers and digital nomads, along with its limitations, so you’ll know when it works best and when a full plan is necessary.
Advantages of Holafly Always On
- 1 GB every month, at no extra cost and without the need to activate any additional plans.
- It activates automatically when your Light or Unlimited plan ends, preventing you from losing your connection.
- No expiration date: The eSIM stays installed, and Always On will be there whenever you need it.
- Works in 76 key countries, covering much of Europe, Asia, America, and Oceania.
- Perfect for digital emergencies, like using maps, sending messages, checking emails, or booking transportation.
- Allows you to access the Holafly app to change your plan or sign up for a new one in seconds.

Limitations of Holafly Always On
- Coverage is limited to 76 countries, even if your main plan includes more than 160.
- 1 GB per month is basic usage, suitable for emergencies, not for streaming, long video calls, or heavy apps.
- The monthly gigabyte doesn’t roll over. If you don’t use it, it’s gone when the cycle ends.
- Always On doesn’t replace your main plan. It’s a backup, not a full-time data solution.
- Holafly may deactivate the benefit if the eSIM is not used for more than twelve months (according to the terms of service).
- Available only on subscriptions activated from November 4, 2025, until the feature is extended to all other plans.
- Some local networks may have moderate speeds, as Always On prioritizes stability over maximum speed.
- You cannot receive SMS messages unless you have activated the additional local number service, which is only available in certain countries.
- This benefit does not apply to prepaid daily eSIMs.
Who benefits from Holafly Always On?
Always On isn’t only for emergencies. Holafly designed it to support different ways of living, especially for frequent travelers, remote workers, or anyone who moves between countries regularly. These are the people who benefit from it the most:

- Digital nomads: They travel between countries while working, and losing internet isn’t an option. Always On gives them 1 GB of backup data so they can request an Uber, join an urgent meeting, or activate a new plan right away.
- Frequent travelers: Frequent flyers don’t have to worry about losing connection between countries. Always On keeps them covered during layovers, in airports, and on transfers without needing to buy another eSIM.
- Backpackers and long-term travelers: For those spending months on the road, this monthly GB is ideal if their plan runs out before reaching the next destination. It lets them activate a new plan without relying on hotel WiFi.
- Students abroad: It provides basic connectivity if their plan runs out before a presentation, exam, or important trip. They can still use maps, messaging, and educational platforms without getting cut off.
- Remote workers or freelancers: If their plan runs out during work, Always On ensures they stay connected for important work, such as emails, messaging, key tasks and staying in touch with the team.
- People who want to avoid roaming charges: Even if they forget to renew their plan before leaving the country, Always On prevents them from losing their connection when they land.
