- On the FirstNet site: Log in to a FirstNet account and activate your preferred roaming plan there. If a plan isn’t activated, pay-per-use rates are charged instead.
- Via phone: Call 800-574-7000 or 611 to request activation of your preferred roaming package before traveling.
- Via the My AT&T App: FirstNet users can activate their preferred roaming plan using their credentials on the app. This is similar to how AT&T roaming is activated.
After choosing a plan, roaming must be turned on on the device. Here’s how to do it on Android and iOS:
- Activating roaming on Android: Go to “Settings,” then “Mobile Data,” and activate the “Data Roaming” option.
- Activate roaming on iOS: Go to “Settings,” then “Cellular Data,” then “Data Options,” and turn on “Data Roaming.”
Avoid FirstNet roaming charges with a Holafly eSIM
Since FirstNet eSIM is only available to verified first responders and public-safety agencies, most travelers will need to look for alternatives.
If you’re traveling abroad, using an eSIM to stay connected is a great alternative to avoid high roaming charges without sacrificing service quality.
A great choice is to use a Holafly eSIM, which covers over 200 destinations, includes unlimited data, 24/7 customer support, 5G coverage when available, and up to 1 GB of hotspot data daily.
But if you’re a more demanding user or planning to work abroad, try Holafly Plans instead. Plans range from $49.90 to $64.90, and depending on your preferred plan, you can get unlimited hotspot data and a local phone number.
Plus, you get access to Always On, a service that gives you 1 GB for free each month at no extra cost, even if you’re not enrolled in any plan.
