Sometimes travelers need a refund because their plans change, their smartphone isn’t compatible, or the eSIM doesn’t perform as expected. If you’re looking to request a Global YO refund, it helps to understand the rules and the process.

This guide outlines eligibility, how to submit a claim, and what to expect in terms of timing.

Global YO does offer refunds, but only under limited conditions. 

The company’s policy prioritizes cases where the service can’t be used because of technical faults or where the eSIM remains unused. According to its official terms, once a data plan is purchased, refunds or partial refunds aren’t guaranteed.

Still, support may approve them in certain verified situations.

Typical refund scenarios

  • Purchased but not activated. You may qualify for a full refund if the QR code hasn’t been scanned, installed, or activated. Just keep in mind that refunds must usually be requested within 30 days of purchase.
  • Activated with connection issues. Refunds may be approved if Global YO confirms a technical fault on its side that can’t be fixed through troubleshooting. You must contact support, provide screenshots or error messages of your Global YO not working, and cooperate during the testing process.
  • Travel plan changes. “Change of mind” or trip cancellations aren’t standard refund reasons. However, if the eSIM is unused and within the specified timeframe, Global YO may consider a refund request on an individual basis.
  • Device compatibility problems. Since it’s the customer’s responsibility to verify that their phone is eSIM-compatible (see phones that support eSIM) and carrier-unlocked, incompatibility is treated as user error. Still, if the eSIM is unused, support may approve a goodwill refund when contacted promptly.

Note that exceptions apply in rare cases, such as verified network provisioning errors, double billing, or fraudulent charges where Global YO is at fault.

How to get a Global YO refund?

To request a Global YO refund, you’ll need to contact customer support and provide sufficient information to enable them to verify your case.

Here’s the step-by-step process:

  1. Gather the required information.
  • Your Global YO order number
  • The email used for the purchase
  • A reason for the request
  • Proof of the issue (e.g., screenshots, error messages, or a speed test if it’s a technical problem)
  1. Email Global YO support. Send your request and documentation to support@globalyo.com.
  2. Submit the request promptly. Aim to contact support within about 30 days of purchase.
  3. Cooperate with troubleshooting (for technical issues). Support may ask you to verify your APN (Access Point Name) settings, confirm that your device is unlocked, or try reconnecting in a different location.
  4. Wait for a decision and processing. When a refund is approved, it’s issued to the original payment method.

Variations to be aware of

  • Purchases through the App Store or Google Play. If you bought the eSIM through a mobile app store, Global YO may direct you to request the refund from Apple or Google.
  • Unused and unactivated eSIMs. These are the simplest refunds. State that the eSIM was never scanned or installed, and processing is usually straightforward if you’re within the allowed timeframe.
  • Technical failures. These require evidence and cooperation. Global YO may approve a refund when the issue is verified on their side and cannot be resolved.

How long does a Global YO refund take?

A Global YO refund is typically processed within one business day. However, the time it takes to receive the rebate depends on your payment method and your bank’s internal processing timelines. 

In total, refunds can be processed on the same day or may take several weeks to process.
