Holafly has crunched the numbers to highlight the world’s most romantic places to propose in 2025 and help you get the "yes."
When it comes to that magical moment of asking your better half to be your husband or wife, more and more people are choosing to travel to all corners of the globe to find the right place.
Whether you’re seeking an idyllic island paradise on the other side of the world, a starry night in a European capital, or a proposal by one of the world’s most famous landmarks, Holafly has crunched the numbers to highlight the world’s most romantic places to propose in 2025 and help you get the “yes” from the love of your life.
To do this, our team looked at several factors that contribute to the perfect proposal.
Using TripAdvisor, we filtered the number of hotels, attractions and restaurants by key terms like ‘Romantic’, ‘good for couples’ and ‘honeymoon spots to establish the most romantic places to stay, eat and visit. The data team also took to Instagram to find out how many hashtags each location had in relation to proposals and engagement.
One thing that can make or break a romantic proposal is the weather, so our team looked at the average hours of sunlight and average milimeters of rainfall each destination sees each year on average. Each data point was given a weighted score out of 100 and the cities were then ranked by a total romantic proposal score out of 600.
So where is the most romantic place in the world to pop the question?
Bali takes the crown as the most romantic place in the world to propose to your better half with a romantic proposal score of 385. Boasting over 46,000 Instagram tags for proposals and engagements, idyllic island living and an array of romantic hotel getaways and restaurants, you are spoiled for choice of stunning places to pop the question on the Indonesian island paradise.
The City of Love Paris was beaten to the top spot by Bali and places second in the rankings. Although a city filled with stunning architecture and home to some of the worlds finest and most romantic restaurants, it is still one of the most romantic places on the planet to pop the question.
London finished third in the rankings with a romantic proposal score of 311. With an array of historic landmarks, gorgeous parks and gardens, or a stroll along the River Thames, there is plenty of opportunity to have a find the perfect romantic setting to get down on one knee.
The infamous Greek Island of Santorini comes in as the fourth most romantic place in the world to propose with a score of 298. Renowned for being a couple’s getaway, it’s no surprise the Greek paradise features highly in the rankings. Boasting over 370 romantic restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine and almost 4,500 hours of sun per year, it truly is one of the most romantic spots for couples.

Methodology:
To create our list of the most romantic proposal hotspots, we analysed a number of sources listing some of the world’s most romantic places.
Number of Instagram hashtags: Data was collected from Instagram using keywords #[location]engagement” and “#[location]proposal”.
Number of romantic hotels: We gathered data from Tripadvisor and filtered it using the keyword “romantic.”
Number of romantic restaurants: We gathered data from Tripadvisor and focused on restaurants labelled as “romantic.”
Number of romantic attractions: We gathered data from Tripadvisor and explored the top attractions in each destination, using filters like “good for couples” and “honeymoon spots.”
Weather: For the average annual sunshine hours and rainfall, we used data from Weather and Climate.
Each factor was scored out of 100, with a total score out of 600 determining the top 20 proposal hotspots for 2025.
