What is a Digital Nomad?

Surely, you have already heard about the concept of “digital nomad”, but if you’re not clear about the definition, today we want to explain it to you. A Digital Nomad is a professional who works remotely or as a freelancer who can travel around the world without any restrictions since he/she only needs an internet connection for daily tasks.

Digital nomads tend to travel a lot, but they differ from conventional tourists in terms of the work system. In addition, they usually stay from 1 to 3 months in the same country, which gives them a lot of freedom to see all the tourist or local sites they want.

As you should know, to be a Digital Nomad, it’s essential to have a good internet connection. For this reason, we have developed a special section in which we will inform you about the different options you have to connect to the internet in Brazil.

eSIM for Brazil

The eSIM is today one of the most famous and popular solutions on the market when it comes to a cellular data connection. Why? Because it has many advantages, that is, you can buy it from anywhere in the world, since it’s a virtual SIM card sent via QR.

With Holafly eSIMs for Brazil, you’ll get quality data service, since you will connect to the best wireless networks in the country with 3G/4G/LTE speeds.

In addition, when you purchase your eSIM, you’ll be able to download the Holafly App, which will help you create your profile, manage the data, have 24-hour customer service available, and much more. We recommend you check if your cellphone is compatible with eSIM before making the purchase.

SIM card for Brazil

If your smartphone is incompatible with eSIM, you can buy a SIM card at authorized stores in airports or shopping centers in Brazil. But remember that by choosing this option, you will be offline for the first few minutes of your stay. So, if you don’t speak the language, it could be inconvenient.

Pocket WiFi

Pocket WiFi are small devices that allow you to share data with 3 devices or more at the same time, although the latter will depend on the data plan you buy with the company you choose.

The main disadvantage of Pocket WiFi is the cost because not only will you have to pay to rent the device, but you will also have to pay for shipping and insurance against theft or loss, which is expensive.

Local internet

If what you need is to save a few cents, this last option may be the most convenient for you. Although you must be very careful with the networks you use to connect to the internet because many of them don’t have sufficient security standards which makes them vulnerable to malware attacks or data and identity theft.

You can find public or local internet networks in the different recreational areas of the city.
