What is the Revolut eSIM?
Revolut eSIM is a data-only eSIM service that you can buy on the Revolut app for near-instant access to mobile data abroad. Since it’s a digital service, you don’t need a physical SIM card and can set it all up in just a few taps.
How does it work?
Instead of creating its own mobile network from scratch, Revolut partnered with 1GLOBAL for the eSIM service. This means you’re getting access to a reputable, widespread mobile network with custom pricing and plans from Revolut.
To set it up, you need an eSIM-compatible phone and a Revolut app with an active account. To get your plan, tap the RevPoints button on the bottom menu, choose the eSIM option, and select a local, regional, or global data plan that suits your needs. Once you’ve done that, simply activate your eSIM and enjoy instant internet access.
Note: Although the eSIM is located in the app’s rewards area, customers currently don’t receive any extra bonuses from buying the eSIM.
Compatible devices
As with all eSIMs, Revolut’s service only works on mobile phones that support eSIM technology. This shouldn’t be an issue if you own a recent flagship device from one of the major manufacturers. That said, you should check the list of compatible devices provided by Revolut to ensure that your phone will work with the service.
Revolut eSIM review: The details
Now that you know the basics about Revolut eSIM and how it works, it’s time to take a closer look at some of its key features.
Network coverage
As mentioned earlier, Revolut uses the 1GLOBAL network and provides coverage in 100+ countries spread across Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and Latin America. On top of local plans, you can also get regional plans for each continent or a global data plan that includes 108 countries.
The regional and global plans are a great choice if you’re going to be traveling to multiple countries on the same trip, as they allow you to save money and effort on getting a separate plan every time you cross a border.
Plans and pricing
Both the pricing and the amount of data you can choose changes depending on your country or region of choice.
All locations have a 1 GB plan that’s valid for 7 days. They also all feature 3 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB, and 20 GB plans valid for 30 days. Some locations also offer 50 GB and 100 GB options, both valid for 60 days.
There are no unlimited data plans available with Revolut, so take a minute to consider how much data you might need for your trip. If you do run out, you can top-up the plan with more data, which, of course, will cost extra.
Since the pricing changes with each location, let’s take a look at some of the more popular options to give you an idea of what you can expect to pay for your eSIM with Revolut. It’s worth mentioning that Revolut only shows prices in your local currency, so the pricing might differ very slightly depending on your location.

- 3 GB for 30 days for €8.50
- 5 GB for 30 days for €13
- 10 GB for 30 days for €19.50
- 20 GB for 30 days for €31.50
- 50 GB for 60 days for €40.50
- 100 GB for 60 days for €60.50

- 20 GB for 30 days for €49.50

Key features
The eSIM comes as a part of Revolut’s main app. This has its pros and cons. Since the eSIM is connected to your Revolut account, the payment process is super simple, on top of that, you get to use services like travel insurance, and even get deals on airport lounges and flights.
On the other hand, tracking your data usage isn’t as comfortable as it is on dedicated eSIM apps. You also must be a Revolut customer to get the eSIM. This means setting up an account, complete with your banking details, to get the eSIM, even if you don’t intend to use any other services offered by Revolut.
Other than that, Revolut offers the main things you’d expect from an eSIM service. These include data top-ups if your plan runs out and data sharing via hotspot, allowing you to connect multiple devices at once.
One thing worth mentioning is that all Revolut eSIM plans become active as soon as you buy them. Many other eSIM providers allow you to buy the plan in advance and activate it when you need it.
Customer support
Since Revolut is a big company with a worldwide user base, it offers 24/7 customer support via live chat to help you in case of any issues. You can also browse its vast knowledge base to find answers to the most common questions or contact the customer support team by email at support@revolut.com.
That said, as Revolut outsources the eSIM network from 1GLOBAL, Revolut customer support agents may not be able to help immediately if there’s an issue with the network itself.
If live chat is your preferred way of getting help, keep in mind that you’ll first be directed to an AI chatbot. Only if it’s unable to help you with your issue are you going to be connected to an actual support agent.
What do the users say about Revolut’s eSIM?
While the eSIM feature is a fairly new offering by Revolut, there are already quite a few reviews by users on reliable platforms like Reddit and Trustpilot. These can give you a glimpse into what using the service is all about.
Despite the recent product launch, it seems like Revolut has reached its target demographic — people who already use the app and see the eSIM as a bonus instead of using Revolut solely for the eSIM service.
It’s also worth noting that a few customers report issues with customer support, which, once again, might be related to the fact that the eSIM network is outsourced.
Get a service with 100% focus on eSIM
Revolut’s eSIM may offer fairly affordable and easy-to-use travel plans to its customers. That said, it’s still essentially just a Revolut sticker placed on a different service that’s integrated into the Revolut app.
