What is Vodafone UK roaming?
Vodafone roaming allows you to use your Vodafone eSIM or SIM card abroad. You’ll be automatically connected to a local network in your destination whenever you cross an international border. Vodafone’s roaming zones differ for pay-as-you-go and monthly customers. Each zone has unique pricing for roaming services, so it’s a good idea to check which zone your destination belongs to before you start roaming. What is Vodafone roaming Zone A?
Zone A is the group of destinations included on every Vodafone plan at no extra cost. There’s no pass to buy and no daily fee.
It covers the locations like Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway. Your UK calls, texts and data work there exactly as they do at home, within the 25 GB fair use limit.
Vodafone roaming charges and pass prices
Pay monthly plans
Every Vodafone SIM-only plan now includes roaming, so the question isn’t whether you get it but how far it reaches.
Plus plans include Euro Roam: 52 destinations across Zones A and B. That’s Europe, plus Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway.
Premier plans include Global Roam: 84 destinations across Zones A, B and C, adding Australia, Turkey, Mexico and the USA among others.
Stepping up from Plus to Premier costs £4 a month on a like-for-like plan, whichever data allowance you pick. If you travel outside Europe even twice a year, that’s usually cheaper than paying the £8 daily fee. Check current pricing on Vodafone’s SIM-only deals page, as every plan rises by £2.50 each April.
Vodafone European Roaming Pass: 8-day and 15-day prices
If your plan doesn’t include European roaming, you can buy a pass or pay the daily fee.

Both passes let you use your existing calls, texts and up to 25 GB of data, and they start when you arrive rather than when you buy. You can’t hold two at once, and a pass won’t roll over if you’re away for less time than it covers.
For most Global Roam and Zone D destinations, the daily fee is £8 a day. Vodafone raised both daily fees on 14 April 2026, and out-of-bundle charges rise each April.
Go over the 25 GB fair use limit and you’ll pay £3.84 per GB until your allowance renews or you return to the UK.
Pay as you go roaming
Pay as you go customers buy a roaming Extra rather than a pass. Each one bundles data, minutes and texts for a set number of days, and which you need depends on your destination.

Europe covers 47 destinations, Around the World 74, and Rest of the World 61. Around the World is the only zone with a 15-day option, and it works out cheaper per GB than buying two 8-day Extras.
One thing to watch. Unlike Pay monthly passes, which start when you arrive, a Pay as you go Extra starts the moment you buy it and ends after its term or when the allowance runs out, whichever comes first. Buy it on the day you travel, not the week before.
Rest of the World data passes
For Rest of the World destinations, Vodafone sells 8-day data passes covering Zones 3 and 4 across 23 destinations. They range from 50 MB at £15 up to 1 GB at £60, with 250 MB at £30 and 500 MB at £45 in between. These are data only, so calls, texts and picture messages are charged separately.
The passes are worth buying. In Nepal, for example, data without a pass costs £1.20 per MB, so 50 MB would run to £60. The 50 MB pass costs £15 for the same data. Calls are charged at £2.57 a minute to make and £1.56 to receive, with texts at 60p, whether or not you have a pass.
How to activate international roaming with Vodafone UK
There are several things you need to consider before you turn on data roaming on your Vodafone plan. Is roaming at your destination included in your monthly plan? If yes, simply turn on data roaming through your phone settings and enjoy using your UK allowance abroad.
If roaming isn’t included in your plan, roaming comes at an extra cost. For a majority of destinations, you will be automatically charged a fixed fee ranging from £2.57 to £7.86 a day whenever you activate roaming. However, you can also buy a roaming pass for 8 or 15 days, which is often the cheaper option.
If you’re travelling to any of the Rest of the World zones, make sure to get a roaming pass before you turn on data roaming, send texts, or make international calls while roaming. You can do so through your Vodafone account online or by texting a dedicated plan code to 40506. Inadvertent or accidental roaming without a pass will result in higher pay-as-you-go fees.

Zone 2 countries are already included on every Vodafone plan, monthly and Pay as you go alike, at no extra cost. Everywhere else depends on your plan and zone.
