Ubigi is an eSIM provider offering data plans across 200+ destinations with options ranging from one-off purchases to annual subscriptions. Pricing starts at $2.90, with plans covering everything from 500MB single-day options to unlimited data packages. However, coverage availability and customer support limitations vary depending on your destination and travel needs.

In our Ubigi eSIM review, we’ll discuss all these features, as well as network coverage, data speeds, and some alternatives so that travelers can make a proper choice before their trip. We’ll also look at Holafly, a top eSIM with unlimited data to consider for your next trip.

Ubigi review: Features

Ubigi eSIM data plans are available for smartphones, tablets, Windows laptops, and some cars. Here’s more about the network coverage and quality, plans and pricing, customer service, and contract policies when using a Ubigi eSIM data plan.

Disclaimer: The data in this article is accurate as of February 19, 2026, and is subject to change.

Network coverage and quality

According to Ubigi, they offer coverage in over 200 destinations, including countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, the Middle East, Oceania, and the Caribbean.

However, even though they list 200 destinations, that’s not always the case. While Panama was listed as a supported destination for Ubigi data plans, some customers have reported that service wasn’t actually available in that country. So, it’s always better to double-check before you travel.

The eSIM Ubigi works with 3G/4G/5G networks, depending on the destination. You can check which network your eSIM will be using, as the partner network providers are listed for each plan.

Before purchasing, travelers can check the coverage quality at their destination to avoid connectivity issues.

Data plans and prices

Let’s talk about the different data plans from Ubigi. There are three types of plans: one-off, monthly, and annual. Here’s what you need to know about each of them:

  • One-off plans: These plans work for a specific amount of time, ranging from one to 30 days, and are available on the app and website. Depending on the plan, these might include limited or unlimited data.
  • Monthly plans: These plans are available exclusively for customers with an existing eSIM and can only be purchased through the Ubigi app. Ubigi users can use these plans for as long as they want, and they can choose between limited and unlimited data options depending on the destination. Payments are recurring monthly.
  • Annual plans: These plans include a monthly automatic renewal for mobile data, which can be purchased on the Ubigi app and website. However, the total price for the plan must be paid upfront.

When purchasing a Ubigi eSIM card, users can purchase single-destination, global, or regional data plans. These are the available regions:

  • Asia: 25 destinations
  • Caribbean: 29 destinations
  • Europe: 35 destinations
  • Middle East: 14 destinations
  • America: 23 destinations
  • Africa: 42 destinations
  • Oceania: 10 destinations
  • Global: 195 destinations

Note: Some destinations are only available within regional packages, not as single-destination Ubigi plans.

Customer service and technical support

Ubigi offers customer support through multiple channels. Users can access support through their online contact form available on the Ubigi website, which requires details like your name, email, eSIM number, device type, and the nature of your request.

The Ubigi mobile app provides easy access to customer support by linking you directly to their help resources and contact options, making it convenient to get assistance while traveling.

Ubigi maintains a comprehensive Help Center with detailed troubleshooting guides, FAQ sections, and step-by-step tutorials covering various devices and scenarios. This self-service resource addresses common issues from eSIM installation to connectivity problems across iOS, Android, and Windows devices.

For assistance, visit Ubigi’s Help Center contact page to submit your query. Including relevant details like your eSIM number and device information helps expedite your request.

Lastly, there’s a huge downside to Ubigi’s customer support — it’s not available on the Ubigi app. To request customer support, you’ll need to switch to their website.

eSIM compatibility

Check compatibility before purchasing:

  • iPhone/iPad: Dial *#06# – if an EID appears, eSIM is supported
  • Android: Settings > About Phone > look for EID
  • Windows: Windows+I > Network and Internet > Cellular

Check Ubigi’s full compatibility list for your specific device. If your device isn’t listed but has eSIM hardware, contact support before buying.

Refund note: If your device turns out to be carrier-locked or eSIM-incompatible, a refund may be possible even if you’ve attempted activation. However, once you’ve successfully used any data, refunds are no longer available.

Contract and cancellation policies

Understanding Ubigi’s refund and cancellation terms is essential before purchasing a data plan.

Ubigi’s refund policy depends on which type of purchase you made:

For preloaded eSIM profiles purchased on the Ubigi website:

Refunds are only possible if you have not used any of the data from your purchased plan. Once you’ve started using your data plan—even if you’ve only used a small amount—your refund request will be denied.

However, there’s an exception: if you’re unable to use the data plan due to your device being carrier-locked or eSIM-incompatible, a refund may still be possible. If your phone is carrier-locked, you can contact your original carrier and request it to be unlocked by providing your device’s IMEI number (found in settings).

Important note: Preloaded eSIM data plans provided as QR codes remain valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.

For recharges/top-ups purchased through your Ubigi account:

If you’ve recharged your existing Ubigi account (via the app or ubigi.me), purchased data plans cannot be refunded once you’ve started using the service. Refunds may be available only if there are proven technical issues caused by Ubigi that prevent you from activating the service. Keep in mind that top-ups on Ubigi eSIMs are not eligible for refunds once you’ve started using the service.

Additional refund restrictions:

  • Data plan replacements are not possible
  • Transferring data plans to other Ubigi accounts is not allowed

Important: Make sure you don’t delete your Ubigi eSIM before you’ve filed your refund request, and it has been fully processed, as customer support may ask you to provide details related to the eSIM.

How to request a refund:

To initiate a refund, contact Ubigi’s customer service team using their online form and attach your payment receipt within 14 business days from the date of purchase (or from when technical issues occurred). If eligible, refunds are processed within 10 business days through your original payment method.

Cancellation policy:

Ubigi doesn’t charge hidden fees if you stop using their service. One-off plans simply expire at the end of their validity period. For monthly or annual plans, you can cancel at any time, though annual plans require payment of the full year upfront.

Ubigi review verdict: Is the Ubigi eSIM worth using?

Ubigi offers solid coverage across 200+ destinations with flexible plan options, but there are some significant limitations to consider. You can get in touch with customer support via their contact page, or the live chat option can assist you with what to do when having problems with your eSIM.

The strict refund policy (no refunds after activating your eSIM) and reported connectivity issues in some destinations mean you should carefully research coverage before purchasing.

If you’re looking for an alternative with more reliable support and simpler pricing, Holafly offers unlimited data across 200+ destinations with 24/7 multilingual customer support via live chat and WhatsApp. Unlike Ubigi’s activation-based refund restrictions, Holafly provides a flexible refund policy.

For travelers who need ongoing connectivity, Holafly Plans offers monthly subscriptions with coverage in 170+ destinations. Holafly’s unlimited data plans work on a duration-based system where you select the number of days that match your travel needs—an effective way to avoid outrageous data roaming charges.
