How much a Google Fi postpaid plan really costs
Google Fi collects payment automatically each month. Listed prices exclude taxes and fees, and there is no separate AutoPay or paperless billing discount.
Adding lines lowers the cost per person, although everyone on the account must choose the same plan.
| Number of lines | Monthly cost per line |
|---|---|
| 1 line | $20-65 |
| 2 lines | $18-55 |
| 3 lines | $17-45 |
| 4 lines | $17-40 |
Roaming can also add to your bill. Flexible charges $10/GB for data in 200+ destinations. For example, seven days in Spain using 3 GB costs $30 in data charges, while 20 minutes of cellular calls at $0.20/minute adds $4, totaling $34 in extra charges.
Unlimited Essentials has no international roaming. Unlimited Standard covers the US, Canada, and Mexico only. Neither plan lets you buy a roaming add-on for other countries, so you would need to change plans or use a separate travel eSIM. Switching from Essentials or Standard to Premium takes effect immediately, but it applies to everyone on the account.
Unlimited Premium includes 50 GB of high-speed international data in 200+ destinations, followed by speeds of 256 kbps. Our Google Fi international roaming guide explains the coverage and restrictions.
For longer trips, Holafly Plans gives you unlimited data and hotspot sharing in 160+ destinations, without extra roaming charges. Use maps to explore, join video calls, or connect your laptop without calculating what each GB will cost. One eSIM keeps you connected as you cross borders, without buying a new SIM at every stop. With 24/7 support and the freedom to cancel renewal anytime, it’s easy to keep your connection as flexible as your itinerary.
These charges can increase your bill beyond the monthly plan price:
| Cost | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Taxes and fees | Vary by location |
| Device financing | Monthly phone installment, if applicable |
| Device protection | Optional; price varies by device and coverage |
| Additional high-speed data | $10/GB if you choose to restore full speeds after your allowance |
| Flexible roaming data | $10/GB in supported destinations, subject to Bill Protection |
| Cellular calls abroad on Flexible or Unlimited Premium | $0.20/minute outside the US, Canada, and Mexico |

Which Google Fi postpaid plan should you choose?
The right plan depends on how you use your phone, rather than choosing the highest tier.
| User type | What fits | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Light user, mostly on Wi-Fi | Flexible | $20/month plus data charges suits low mobile data use. |
| Heavy streamer or hotspot user | Unlimited Premium | 100 GB of high-speed domestic data and 50 GB of high-speed hotspot. |
| Family of 3–4 lines | Unlimited Essentials | Lower per-line rates for three or four people, with 30 GB of high-speed data each. |
| Occasional traveler | Unlimited Standard or Unlimited Premium | Standard includes Canada and Mexico; Premium extends data coverage to 200+ destinations. |
| Long-stay traveler or expat | Flexible + / Holafly Plans | Keep your US number for $20/month while using a separate monthly data plan abroad. |
Google Fi lets you pause service for up to three months, after which it resumes automatically. On Flexible, you aren’t charged for paused days; on the unlimited plans, you pay through the end of the billing cycle.

FAQs about Google Fi postpaid plans
Before choosing a Google Fi monthly plan, these answers can help clear up common questions and give you a better idea of what to expect.
Are taxes and fees included in Google Fi plan prices?
No. Standard Google Fi plan prices exclude taxes and government fees, which are added to your bill and vary by service address. Phone installments, optional device protection, chargeable international calls, and additional high-speed data can also increase the amount you pay beyond the listed monthly rate.
Is Google Fi prepaid or postpaid?
Google Fi combines both: monthly plan fees are paid in advance, while chargeable extras are billed afterward. Flexible also bills data usage afterward at $10/GB, subject to Bill Protection. The three unlimited plans include data in the upfront fee. There are no separate prepaid and postpaid ranges.
Can I cancel Google Fi without a cancellation fee?
Google Fi has no annual service contract or service termination fee. However, cancelling does not erase outstanding charges: any remaining financed phone balance becomes due, and device promotions may have conditions that affect your final bill. Transfer your number before closing service if you want to keep it.
What countries are not covered by Google Fi?
Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Syria are not listed among Google Fi’s supported roaming destinations. Flexible and Unlimited Premium cover destinations including Spain, France, Japan, Australia, and Brazil. Standard supports roaming only in Canada and Mexico, while Essentials has no international roaming. Check coverage before each trip.
How long can you use Google Fi outside the US?
Google Fi is designed for primarily US use, and you need to activate and use your line in the US before traveling. If most of your usage takes place outside the US over a consecutive 90-day period, Google Fi suspends your international data, with a warning 30 days beforehand.
Your account stays active during a suspension, so calls and texts keep working. Data access returns once Google Fi sees significant usage in the US for at least 30 days.
Can you use an eSIM with Google Fi postpaid plans?
Yes, all four Google Fi monthly plans support eSIM on compatible, unlocked iPhones and Android devices. You can activate service without inserting a physical SIM card. If you’re unfamiliar with the technology, our guide explains what an eSIM is and how it works.
