Does Google Fi work internationally?
Yes, Google Fi works internationally, but only on selected plans, and some include this service only for selected destinations.
However, Google Fi roaming doesn’t work for extended periods; users usually receive a warning after about 50 days outside the United States, after which international data is blocked for 30 days.

Google Fi international coverage: Map and countries
Google Fi international coverage depends on which plan you’re using.
With Unlimited Premium and Flexible, you get international coverage in over 200 destinations, while Unlimited Standard only covers Mexico and Canada. This applies to Google Fi eSIM and SIM plans.
Lastly, Unlimited Essentials doesn’t cover international destinations.
Google Fi international plans and rates
Depending on your local Google Fi eSIM or SIM card plan, here’s how rates would look when traveling abroad:
- Unlimited Premium: Up to 50 GB in over 200 destinations, including Mexico and Canada, with free texts, $0.20/minute for calls, and free international calls from the US to over 50 selected countries and territories.
- Unlimited Standard. Use your local allowance in Mexico and Canada at no additional cost.
- Flexible: $10/GB with Bill Protection on over 200 destinations, with free texts and $0.20/minute for calls.
How to activate Google Fi international roaming
To use Google Fi internationally, you need to use the service in the US for at least one day.
After that, you’ll need to activate roaming on your phone. Here’s how to do it:
- Activate roaming on iOS: Open “Settings”, go to“Cellular Data”, then open “Data Options” to turn on “Data Roaming”.
- Activating roaming on Android: Open “Settings”, then “Mobile Data”, then turn on Data Roaming.
