Singtel hi! (formerly Heya) roaming in China: which plans cover it?
Heya has moved to Singtel hi! See which plans now include China roaming, plus other Singapore telco options and how Holafly compares.
If you’re planning a trip to China, here is the key detail to know upfront: Heya was rebranded as Singtel hi! in December 2025, whether you have China coverage now depends on your Singtel hi! plan tier — some tiers include China, others don’t. Check the breakdown further down before you travel.
In this guide, we’ll explain how Heya’s move to Singtel hi! affects China roaming, which plans include it, and what other Singapore telcos provide.
We’ll also introduce how a Holafly travel eSIM can keep you connected, with unlimited data, instant setup, and reliable coverage across China.
Is Heya still available?
Heya stopped accepting new customers on November 3, 2025, and every existing Heya customer was automatically migrated to Singtel hi! starting December 1, 2025 — same plan benefits, same SIM, no action required beyond downloading the new Singtel hi! app. If you’re still using the Heya app, note that Singtel officially retired it in favour of the Singtel hi! app from that date.
Does Singtel hi! (formerly Heya) offer roaming in China?
Not as Heya — but as Singtel hi!, it depends on your plan. Heya roaming itself never included China in its roaming network; mainland China was never part of its supported destination list.
But since every Heya customer has migrated to Singtel hi! starting December 1, 2025, the answer now depends on your Singtel hi! plan tier.
Here’s a breakdown of the Singtel hi! plans:
| Singtel hi! plan type | China roaming included | China roaming NOT included |
|---|---|---|
| Regular monthly plans | $15 and $20 plans | $5 and $10 plans |
| hi! Tourist plans | $15 and $30 plans | $12 base plan |
| Add-on roaming packs (bought separately, any plan) | – APAC: 20 destinations – Worldwide: 67 destinations | – APAC: 7 destinations – ASEAN + HK: 11 destinations |
On the tiers that include China, roaming runs on China Mobile and China Unicom partner networks. Note that Hong Kong and Macau are counted as separate destinations from mainland China — a pack that covers Hong Kong doesn’t automatically cover China.
Which other Singapore telcos also offer China roaming?
Several Singapore telcos do support connectivity in China, but their plans differ widely in terms of data limits, pricing, and reliability.
Here’s what to know before you choose:
- StarHub China roaming is available for both postpaid and prepaid users through add-on plans or pay-per-use rates.
- M1 roaming China is available via Data Passport or pay-per-use roaming. It’s convenient if you’re already an M1 user, but speeds and limits vary by destination.
- SIMBA China roaming is included in its APAC roaming packages, allowing data use in China on eligible plans, with excess usage charged at pay-per-use rates.
- Gomo China roaming is available through either roaming-inclusive plans or Asia roaming add-ons, depending on your data needs. Be sure to check your plan details before travelling, as not all base plans include China by default.
- Giga roaming China is supported via the gigaRoam APAC Pass and gigaRoam Global Pass, both of which include China for users on eligible 5G plans.
To make the best decision, start by comparing each provider’s data roaming availability in China, plan details, and setup process. Then, estimate your trip’s data needs to choose a plan that fits your needs.
If you’d rather skip all the comparisons and enjoy a seamless, unlimited connection, consider a Holafly eSIM instead.
