If you’re a Rogers customer, your phone works in more than 180 destinations outside Canada. You keep your own number, and your calls, texts and data work much as they do at home.
The catch is knowing what you’ll pay before you go. Rogers charges differently depending on whether you buy a Travel Pass in advance, let the Roam Like Home daily rate apply, or use neither and fall onto pay-per-use rates. Getting that choice wrong is what turns a two-week trip into an unwelcome bill.

What is Rogers international roaming?
Roam Like Home is the name Rogers gives to its daily roaming service. It lets you use the calls, texts and data already on your Rogers plan while you are abroad, for a flat fee on each day you use your phone.
Rogers has direct agreements with over 700 carriers worldwide, so your phone connects to a local network automatically when you land. There is nothing to switch on beyond data roaming in your phone settings.
Most Rogers postpaid customers are enrolled automatically. To check before you travel, text TRAVEL to 222 from your Rogers phone while you are still in Canada.
Roam Like Home covers all 50 US states, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, plus more than 180 international destinations. It now includes satellite-to-mobile roaming in the US.

The international rate covers Europe, Asia and everywhere else Rogers reaches, but does not include the US, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands. A trip taking in both means the US rate applies on US days and the international rate on the rest.
How the daily charge works
- You are charged only on days you use your phone. That means a call, a text, voicemail or data. A day spent on hotel WiFi with data roaming switched off is not charged.
- The fee covers you until 11:59 PM Eastern Time, whichever time zone you are in.
- Charges stop after 20 days per monthly bill. Roam Like Home then continues at no further daily cost until your bill period ends.
- You get unlimited calls and texts to numbers in the country you are visiting and back to Canada. Calls to anywhere else are charged at pay-per-use rates.
- Data comes out of your existing Rogers allowance rather than being added on top.

A Travel Pass covers a set number of days at a fixed price, in place of the daily rate. You can buy one up to 60 days before you travel, so it can be sorted well ahead of your flight.

On board, data runs at the fastest speed available for the first 1 GB in each 24-hour period, then continues at reduced speeds.

Both options give you the same thing, so the choice comes down to how long you are away.

Rogers markets the 30-day International Travel Pass as $4 a day. For trips of more than two or three days, a pass generally works out lower than paying daily. For a short hop, the daily rate is simpler and there is nothing to buy in advance.
Rogers international roaming pay-per-use rates
If you are not on a Rogers plan that covers international roaming, and haven’t purchased a Rogers travel pass, you will be subject to Rogers’ standard pay-per-use rates.

How to add a Rogers international roaming plan to your phone
To add Rogers roaming to your mobile, you’ll first need to check if roaming in your destination is possible with Rogers.
Next, you should understand if your home mobile plan includes international roaming. Since most Rogers’ postpaid mobile plans are eligible and automatically enrolled in Roam Like Home, you only have to turn on data roaming on your mobile device to access the service.
Once you arrive at your destination, you’ll receive a welcome text confirming Roam Like Home is activated and ready to use. In other situations, this text will include the destination’s pay-per-use rates, whether Roam Like Home is available, or if you’ve opted out of using Roam Like Home.
Roam Like Home isn’t available on cruise ships or airplanes. However, you can still call and text at pay-per-use rates.

Do you need to turn on data roaming for Rogers roaming plans?
Yes, data roaming must be enabled in your phone’s settings so that your phone can access foreign roaming networks.
If this is not turned on, your phone cannot use mobile data abroad even if you’ve already added a Roam Like Home or a 30-day Travel Pass to your account.
