How it works:
- Price: $5 per 24 hours (charged only on days used).
- Data: 5 GB data per day.
- Talk and SMS: Unlimited.
Note: This plan automatically activates when usage starts. Additionally, it will only be charged on the days you use Optus international roaming in India.
Optus $10 roaming pass for India
The Otpus $10 roaming pass is available for older postpaid plans, Non-Choice Plus plans. It allows you to use 1 GB of data per day, with unlimited talk and SMS, and pay $10 for each day.
How it works:
- Price: $10 per 24 hours.
- Data: 1 GB of data per day.
- Talk and SMS: Unlimited.

Optus prepaid international roaming packs for India
Prepaid customers must purchase an international roaming pack before or during travel to avoid high standard roaming charges.
Optus provides four international roaming packs to suit different traveler needs.

Optus international roaming India charges
If you are not on the eligible plans to use Optus roaming passes or haven’t purchased an international roaming pack, the standard pay-as-you-go rates will apply.
Postpaid standard roaming rates
The pay-as-you-go rates for postpaid customers not on eligible plans are as follows:
- Talk: $1.50 per minute
- SMS: $0.50 per SMS
- Data: $1.00 per MB
Warning: If you frequently use data-heavy apps like Instagram or Facebook, you can easily use 100 MB per day, which costs as much as $100. To avoid unexpectedly high roaming charges on your monthly bill, consider purchasing an Indian SIM card or an eSIM as a more cost-effective alternative.
Prepaid standard roaming rates
If you don’t purchase a roaming pack, the PAYG rates will be deducted from your available credit, potentially depleting it rapidly. The rates are as follows:
- Talk: $1.00 per minute.
- SMS: $0.50 per SMS.
- Data: $0.50 per MB.
Note: If you don’t want to use your credit, you can turn off the data roaming to avoid roaming charges in India.
How to activate Optus international roaming for India
Both postpaid and prepaid customers can use the My Optus app to activate their Optus international roaming for India:
Postpaid users
- Check your Optus plan on the My Optus app.
- Make sure you are eligible to use $5 or $10 roaming passes.
- Enable International Roaming on the app.
Prepaid users
- Open the My Optus app and go to Settings.
- Choose Add-Ons, and select the roaming plan you want to purchase.
