No ticket for the Coachella festival? You can still live it through pool parties and livestreams

Missed out on Coachella tickets? Discover pool parties, livestreams, and desert events where you can soak up the festival vibe without a wristband.

Published: April 10, 2026

Dreaming of attending Coachella this year but missed out on tickets?

Maybe they sold out too fast, maybe the resale prices were ridiculous, or maybe the logistics just didn’t add up. And now, you’re seeing Coachella content take over your feed.

The FOMO is real. But here’s what most people don’t realize… Coachella is no longer just about what happens inside the festival gates.

Coachella has evolved into a full-blown cultural moment that you don’t need a festival pass to enjoy. From iconic pool parties in the desert to livestreams watched around the world, here’s how you can still tap into the energy, music, and atmosphere.

Why Coachella is so hard (and expensive) to get into

Coachella tickets are famous for selling out notoriously fast. In fact, Coachella 2026 tickets sold out in just 45 minutes, meaning many music and festival fans missed out. And although tickets then frequently pop up on resale sites, these can be as much as triple face value.

And it’s not just the festival pass you have to shell out for. With additional costs for things like camping, hotels, car pooling, and food, your first Coachella festival can quickly become very costly.

Luckily, there are alternative ways to enjoy the music and atmosphere of Coachella without going bankrupt. What’s more, Coachella is just one of dozens of major US festivals, so it’s worth considering other options that may be more affordable.

The official Coachella live stream

If you can’t make it to Coachella, you always have the option to watch from home. YouTube hosts the official Coachella live stream for free. It streams footage from 7 stages simultaneously across both weekends, and it’s one of the most-watched global event live streams each spring.

The headliners’ sets (Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G), along with many other artists, will be live-streamed, but some sets are cut or restricted due to timing constraints. Check out the official Coachella YouTube Channel to see the scheduled streaming times for your time zone.

Palm Springs pool parties: The real alternative Coachella scene

In recent years, the Coachella festival has expanded across the Colorado Desert. No longer is it confined to Indio (where the festival site is); it’s now widely celebrated in the trendy nearby town of Palm Springs, 45 minutes away.

Throughout both weekends, there are various Coachella-themed events. Major brands, record labels, and sponsors host events that are often invite-only. Still, many hotels in Palm Springs host free or low-cost pool parties, allowing you to soak up the festival atmosphere without a wristband, such as:

  • Saguaro
  • Renaissance
  • Riviera
  • Ace Hotel

Aside from Coachella festivities, the blend of raw desert landscape and low-key luxury makes Coachella Valley a truly unique USA weekend trip.

2026 Coachella-adjacent events worth planning around

The art, music, and cultural energy of Coachella extend far beyond the gates, but the specific events vary each year. Here’s a look at 2026’s verified lineup of public happenings to plan your itinerary around:

  • Sabrina Carpenter’s “pit stop” experience: Airbnb and Sabrina Carpenter are teaming up to create a whimsical fantasyland featuring candy-inspired art installations, sparkly vintage cars, slushies, and various cool photo opportunities. It’s free, and you can find it just off of Route 111 throughout Weekend 1.
  • ALT 101.5 Coachella pre‑party: This free live‑music event takes place at Palm Springs Surf Club on April 11th from 5 pm. There are live performances from Jakobs Castle and Save Ferris, making for a great local prelude to the festival atmosphere.
  • Goldenvoice Surf Club pool party: This daytime music and pool party runs on both Coachella weekends with DJs, live music, and wavepool sessions. Each day features a different music lineup, and tickets start at $49.
  • Yoga and sound baths at Drift Palm Springs: If you want to balance all the partying with some wellness, Drift Palm Springs is hosting pre-festival yoga sessions and sound baths each morning of the festival.

There are also many unrelated activities taking place in April, creating the ultimate Palm Springs itinerary during Coachella weekend:

  • Palm Springs VillageFest – Every Thursday evening, downtown Palm Springs hosts a vibrant street fair with local artisans, food vendors, art, music, and entertainment.
  • Certified Farmers Markets: Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage hold weekly outdoor markets serving fresh produce, artisan foods, flowers, and local crafts. These are great for picking up snacks or souvenirs while experiencing local life.
  • World Art Day Festival: On April 11th, celebrate art and creativity at this Palm Springs festival. It takes place at Downtown Park, and you’ll find a range of exhibitions, performances, and community activities.

With so much going on, if you’ve got festival tickets you’ll need at least 5 days in Coachella Valley to make the most of everything in and outside the gates.

Can you still make it to Palm Springs this year?

Coachella 2026 spans two weekends in April: 10-12 and 17-19. While official tickets sold out almost immediately after going on sale, it may still be possible to find some on resale sites like AXS Official Resale, StubHub, and SeatGeek.

However, resale tickets can be very pricey, so consider planning Coachella weekend around pool parties and branded events instead, which typically have more last-minute availability.

That being said, accommodation in Indio and Palm Springs during the festival weekends fills fast. If you can’t find anything there, check nearby areas like Joshua Tree or Twentynine Palms. These towns are more likely to have availability and offer a variety of unique activities, from hiking to stargazing.

And if you can’t make it, there are plenty of other awesome festivals later in the year, such as Burning Man in the Nevada desert, offering a very different vibe.

Beyond the USA, springtime music festivals are becoming increasingly popular. If you’ve got the festival buzz, you’ll find tons of alternative festivals in Europe during the spring, including Glastonbury in the UK and Primavera Sound in Spain.
