Singapore uses Type G plugs, the same plug type as used in the United Kingdom. These plugs have three rectangular pins: two horizontal pins at the bottom, and a vertical pin at the top.
Some international hotels may have multiple plug types available in the rooms. However, it’s not something you should rely on, and having a way to plug into Type G outlets while in Singapore is a must.
What is the standard voltage in Singapore?
Singapore uses 230V voltage with a frequency of 50Hz — the same nominal supply Australia runs on.
On top of that, most phone or laptop chargers are dual-voltage devices, rated for 100-240V. This means you can plug them into almost any plug. The exception is a device you bought overseas in a 120V country, such as the USA, that isn’t dual-voltage, which requires a voltage converter when you need it in Singapore. Check the fine print on the charger before you pack it.
Do I need a power adapter in Singapore?
If you’re travelling from Australia, yes. You need an adapter for a type G plug to be able to use a Singaporean socket — the phone charger, the laptop brick, and the camera battery charger included.
