For many triathletes, the journey to a race begins well before the starting line. According to Triathlete magazine, nearly 85% of the triathletes surveyed had travelled for training or racing in 2024, most of them taking between two and six trips. Each new destination brings the same practical needs: finding the venue, checking for race updates and reaching people back home.

Holafly, the global leader in eSIMs for travelers, really fits into the experience, bringing peace of mind to athletes by helping them stay online when a race takes them somewhere new. It became the official eSIM partner of the Zuma Beach Triathlon in Malibu.

For the Malibu triathlon, Holafly took to the beach with a Recharge & Recovery Lounge. After the swim, bike and run, athletes and their supporters had a place on the beach to cool down, recharge and enjoy the finish-line celebrations together. The lounge offered shaded seating, massage chairs and refreshments throughout the weekend, as athletes stopped to recover and spend time with family and friends.

Holafly also gave athletes a shot at their next adventure with a Global Race Grant prize draw: $1,000 towards an international race of the winner’s choice, with an interactive map located in its booth. Across the weekend, the lounge brought Holafly into conversations with athletes planning future trips, showing how its eSIMs can bring peace of mind when the next starting line is in another country.

Holafly also partnered with triathlete and content creator Carolyn Carter (@la_triathlete), alongside Rarax (@rarax3) and MalibuLovinMama (@malibulovinmama), to bring the Zuma Beach weekend to their audiences. Carter shares her experience of training and racing with a community of fellow athletes, making her a natural voice for the partnership.

“Triathletes put so much into reaching a start line, and for many of them, that includes travelling far from home,” said Daniela Prado, Brand Director at Holafly. “We wanted to show up for them in a way that felt useful: somewhere to recover after the race, and support for wherever their next challenge takes them. When you’re racing abroad, being able to find your way and reach the people cheering you on gives you one less thing to think about.”
